Culture vultures can head to Hull’s Old Town (8 miles) to peruse the cobbled streets lined with brick facades, with plenty of historical sights to explore. The breathtakingly beautiful gothic Hull Minster (8 miles), the centrepiece of Hull’s Old Town is not to be missed; come back after sunset to view the remarkable sight of vibrant lights illuminating the church.

The city where culture never sleeps, Hull is alive with something for the whole family to get stuck into, from the peace and tranquillity of the Ferens Art Gallery (9 miles) and Humber Street Gallery (8.5 miles), which hosts an extensive programme of events, to the maritime charm of the Blue Plaque Trail which leads you through Hull’s history from the historic Old Town to the vibrant Fruit Market.

Boasting Victorian grandeur, an excellent play area, a conservatory greenhouse and a small lake, keen walkers and cyclists can enjoy the fresh outdoors at Pearson Park (10 miles) and get the blood pumping by weaving around the trails. The whole family will love a long walk through the park, spotting the many historic artefacts, including the restored statues of Queen Victoria and Price Albert, a historic drinking fountain and the large monolith in memory of Zachariah Pearson who gifted the park to the people of Hull.

Surrounded by open countryside, walkers and cyclists can enjoy the many tracks and trails nearby. For a day by the sea, the popular coastal towns of Withernsea (10 miles) and Hornsea (17 miles) are easily reached.
