We enjoyed a fabulous, comfortable and relaxing long weekend recently. The cottage is truly lovely and you can tell that it is a home, not just a holiday let. We paid more than we would normally do as a couple but the location was perfect and we had a lovely walk to nearby Sandsend and had a stroll along the beach. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and a weekend was certainly not enough time to do all that we wanted to. What made it particularly special was the fact that the owner contacted us prior to the visit and we spoke at length about the cottage and her love for it which was apparent from the moment that we stepped into it.
The log burning stove was lovely for the cold November nights although a few extra logs would have been appreciated, although there was constant heating available in the cottage and we didn't have to use the fire unless we wanted to.
All in all a lovely weekend and we would definately recommend it.

We booked The Retreat for our honeymoon and weren't disappointed. It's a lovely, well presented cottage that allowed us to have a very relaxing time after our wedding.

The retreat is very well placed for exploring the surrounding area of Sandsend, Whitby and beyond.

Gillian, the owner, was lovely and could not have been more accommodating or helpful. Many thanks!
