10 things to do in Yorkshire – Christmas 2016

#01 Ripley Castle Fair

I’m a big fan of Ripley Castle and Christmas Fairs so this is really the perfect event for me. The event takes place in a luxury heated marquee with the Castles’ courtyard. Expect more than 150 stalls selling a range of festive items and there is also Food Hall, Champagne Bar and two restaurants.

#02 Castle Howard

I will be heading to Castle Howard myself in a couple of weeks to check out their Christmas extravaganza. It’s open until 23rd December and you can expect beautifully decorated rooms, a festive indoor market and live music.

#03 Ryedale Museum Victorian Christmas

#05 Burton Constable Hall

Running up to the 19th December, the grand house will be transformed with a selection of festive garlands. Children’s activities will be running in the Stable Block and there are also hidden Christmas crackers to find in each room.

#06 Robin Hoods Bay Victorian Festival

Pay a visit to the lovely coastal town of Robin Hood’s Bay on the 2-4th December and you’ll be transported back to Victorian times. As well as the Christmas Light switch-on, you can also try old-fashioned activities such as rolling pennies down the bank and Ye Olde Welly Wanging! There’s also Afternoon Tea and a Beer Fest on offer in terms of refreshments.

#07 Stockfield Park

From the 23rd November, Stockfield Park is open every day of the week until the 3rd January. Activities include an outside skating ring, magic maze and a Nordic Ski Trail through the Enchanted Forest. We recommend visiting when it’s dark outside and the Enchanted Forest and Maze are magically illuminated.

#08 Santa Special Trains

NYMR Santa Train

Santa trains are run by North York Moors Railway, Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway and Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. Kids will get to travel with (and meet) Santa and his helpers and the trains come with a variety of activities, refreshments and entertainment.
