Sometimes you walk into a holiday cottage and think, wow, I wish I had the sense of interior creativity to be able to do something like this with my own home. This is exactly what I thought when I walked into Georgia.
Not only is the double height open plan dining and living space visually impressive its vibrant and intelligent colour scheme brings the whole room to life. With its bright oranges and dark blues it is contemporary styling at its best.
More importantly, it creates a wonderful space to relax and enjoy a holiday in. So other than the immaculate styling, what else is there to love about Georgia…
5 things to love about Georgia
#01 Picture this
There are few things finer on holiday than breakfast with a view. Although dining in Georgia at any time of the day is heavenly with the dining table set by an enormous picture window. Sit happily gazing out to the Yorkshire Dales sheep in the meadow as you bathe in all that natural light.
#02 Getting fired up!
Wander out into the back garden and you’ll discover a little outdoor treat. A beautiful wood-fired hot-tub sitting ready and waiting for you to fire it up. It’s particularly gratifying to smell the wood burning while you wait for the water temperature to rise. Sink into the silky warm water and enjoy the view of the woods while the birds sing overhead…
#03 Historical Richmond
Georgia is set in open countryside, just a few miles from the beautiful and historic market town of Richmond. Take the short drive down into the town and you’ll catch a breath-taking view of Richmond Castle set high up over the river Swale. Wander around the handsome town centre, where tall Georgian houses gather around a cobbled square. There are lots of good cafés and restaurants to choose from too, including an excellent and utterly authentic Italian La Piazza [very child-friendly]…
#04 Cooking up a storm
Georgia has a particularly well equipped kitchen which is something we think is pretty important in a holiday cottage. Yes it is lovely to dine out more often on holiday, but with all of the fantastic produce available in Yorkshire, it’s also a treat to relax and cook too. This particular cottage has been equipped to 5 Star Gold standard and the kitchen itself is a great social space to cook in.
#05 Exploring the Dales
Georgia is set in Richmondshire in the Yorkshire Dales on the cusp of some truly stunning Dales scenery. Take a tour up to Reeth, stop for tea and scone in one of the lovely cafes and then head on towards Muker to take in some fabulous views of Swaledale. And if you have time, drive down into Wensleydale across the majestic Buttertubs Pass…
