I had the pleasure of staying in newly launched Park Cottage recently with my husband and young children. I can’t remember a weekend when we all were able to just switch off and enjoy family time as much as we did at Park Cottage. It was just lovely, helped in no small way by this lovely holiday cottage and its location.
There were a lot of things I adored about this cottage, including its proximity to the gorgeous town of Beverley. So here’s my top 5 reasons why I think you will fall in love too…
5 Things to Love about Park Cottage
#01 Room to breathe
A spacious open-plan design in the sitting room, dining area and kitchen with a separate play room / snug gives you room to breathe. You never feel like you’re on top of one another, and you can settle the little ones down in their own room to play with toys or watch a movie, allowing you time to catch up with the grown-ups. It’s a small detail, but one that makes all the difference. We also loved the fact that we could go and chill in the hot-tub once the kids were safely in bed.
#02 Elegant and peaceful interiors
Park Cottage has a very elegant country-chic style in every room. A calm and peaceful backdrop punctuated with the occasional splash of colour has a very soothing effect on body and soul. You instantly feel relaxed and in holiday mode as soon as walk in the door. And at night the cottage takes on another look; when the wood-burner is lit and the candles glowing it’s incredibly cosy in here.
#03 Meet Joe
Joe Parkinson, landlord and chef at the Hotham Arms, is a true character and you can be sure of a warm welcome at this excellent dining pub (just a stone’s throw from the cottage) It’s something of a revelation when you walk into the pub and find a stunning candlelit restaurant to the rear. The food is fantastic, and the service even better. A real luxury to have this just around the corner from your holiday cottage.
#04 Drewtons Farm Shop
If you prefer dining in the comfort of the cottage, there’s no finer place to pick up supplies for tonight’s dinner than Drewton’s Farm Shop, just a mile or so down the road from the cottage. Set within 1,200 acres of a country estate Drewton’s is a traditional farm shop with a contemporary twist where you’ll find the very best local Yorkshire produce to sample and buy. There’s also an excellent café there serving all of this lovely produce – a great option for lunch. Try the Eggs Drewton – their take on Eggs Benedict – it’s delicious!
#05 Family fun
Park Cottage is absolutely perfect for families for so many reasons. Firstly there’s a huge, safe enclosed garden to the rear of the cottage offering plenty of space for little ones to blow off steam. Secondly its set right beside a traditional country estate where you take the kids out on bicycles or just go for a way well away from the main roads. And at the other end of the estate is a great children’s park. Lastly there is just so much for children to see and do in this area. The Deep & Street Life Museum in Hull, The Viking Museum and Dungeons in York, and finally our favourite – The Yorkshire Wildlife Park. We had a fantastic day out at this relatively new attraction. Children and adults alike will love meeting the lemurs, the lions and the most recent resident, Victor the polar bear.
