The Kings Arms – Askrigg
You might just recognise the Kings Arms in Askrigg; this historic pub set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales doubled up as the Drover’s Arms in ‘All Creatures Great and Small’, that wonderful series all about vet James Herriot. The Farmers Arms – Muker
Step back in time at The Farmers Arms in Muker. This gorgeous village pub prides itself on maintaining the traditional charm of pubs as they used to be. Set in one of the most breath-taking locations in the Yorkshire Dales, the wild magnificence that is Swaledale, its serves excellent food and a wide range of local ales. Lovely open fire for you and your dog to warm up by after a bracing walk across the Dales. The Red Lion Burnsall
The Red Lion, affectionately known as ‘the Lion’, is a beautiful country Inn with bags of character and a picture-perfect location. Originally a 16th Century Ferryman’s Inn, today the Inn is the heart of the community in Burnsall, said by some to be home to the finest stretch of river, fell and scenery in Yorkshire. Bar and restaurant options for eating, both of which are just adorable. The Wheatsheaf Inn – Carperby
Of course we’re not ones to name drop but this lovely village Inn has quite a celebrity clientele. Author Alf Wright (otherwise known as ‘James Herriot’) and his wife spent their honeymoon here. Also, quite incredibly, Greya Garbo stayed here in 1942 after an evening entertaining the troops at Catterick Garrison. The dog-friendly Wheatsheaf Inn has a great location close to some of the Yorkshire Dales most well-known and stunning attractions including Asygarth Falls and Bolton Castle. The Bay Horse – Masham
Not just one but two roaring fires for your dog to curl up by. The Bay Horse in Masham is a great option for lunch or dinner after a mosey around the town. The Blue Bell Inn – Kettlewell
Lovely, lovely, lovely. The dog-friendly Blue Bell Inn in Kettlewell welcomes dogs and their owners with open arms.
