Autumn, the season of harvest festivals and conker fights, when carpets of crunchy leaves collect beneath trees and the countryside transfigure into landscapes of gold and mahogany. The transition between summer and winter may bring dark, misty mornings and chilly weather, but there’s no doubt that it’s a beautiful time of year. What’s more, it’s one of the most fun-packed seasons on the calendar, boasting Halloween, Bonfire Night, and the exciting lead up to (dare we say it?) Christmas!
Here at Gorgeous Cottages, we think that everybody needs to experience this wonderful season in God’s Own County. Admittedly, our views are rather biased considering Yorkshire is our favourite spot all year round, but there’s something even more magical about the place when the summer months fizzle out and the weather turns colder.
We’ve decided to share with you our five favourite autumnal activities in Yorkshire; from pumpkin festivals at farmer’s markets to spectacular sightseeing along an old-fashioned railway, there’s a day out for everyone this season. For each activity, we’ve also matched up one of our stunning holiday cottages nearby, so you know exactly where to stay when you’re visiting Yorkshire this autumn!
