Here at Gorgeous Cottages we are rather partial to a trip to Richmond in Swaledale. Especially as there is a selection of fabulous cafes and restaurants to choose from.

#01 The Frenchgate, Richmond

This Grade II listed belong was once the residence of a Georgian Gentleman and is a great choice for a spot of fine dining in the centre of town. We love the elegant dining room and locally sourced seasonal menu. It’s one of the best places to eat in Richmond.

#02 Rustique Restaurant, Richmond

Stop for lunch at one of its several good restaurants.

Ooh la la – this fabulous French-themed restaurant will transport you to Paris! It’s styled like a Parisian street complete with street lamps and a view of the Eiffel Tower. The menu itself includes a range of French classics

#03 La Piazza, Richmond

If Italian is more your thing then La Piazza in Richmond is a great choice for pizza and pasta (not to mention delicious Italian desserts). You’ll have a little bit of a drive to get to The Raby Hunt from Richmond but as the restaurant has 2 Michelin Stars it is well worth it! Chef James Close serves a tasting menu of 12/15 courses that showcases the best local produce in a selection of stunning dishes.

#08 The Burgoyne, Reeth

The setting of The Burgoyne is fabulous – the elegant dining room has views over Reeth’s pretty village green. The fine-dining seasonal menu uses ingredients such as Swaledale Lamb and you can also pre-book for Afternoon Tea.

The large village green is well known and loved by everyone visiting the area.

#09 The Bridge Inn, Grinton

This traditional coaching inn dates back to the 15th century. It’s a dog-friendly pub inn Swaledale that’s a great choice for walkers. The menu includes local game (often caught by the landlord) and a range of home cooked food.

The fantastic foodie pub The Punch Bowl, just a stones throw from the cottage.

The Punch Bowl is a fabulous gasto pub in the pretty village of Low Row. Good food in scenic Swaledale surroundings – what more could you want! We especially love the open fire and wooden bar.
