Five things to love about The Hay Barn - North York Moors

Ed 31 December 2013

The Hay Barn is one of our most popular large luxury cottages in Yorkshire. It’s set in a picturesque little village in the North York Moors, just a few miles from Castle Howard.

With its fantastic leisure facilities, large open spaces and idyllic location, it’s a bit of a no brainer why this large holiday cottage is booked up months in advance every year.

Sleeping up to 10 people in total, it’s the perfect cottage for a celebration. Just ask Rebecca Adlington – she stayed here recently with her family and said “the only fault we had with the Hay Barn was having to go home. What a fabulous house!”

But in case you need any more convincing, here are my top 5 reasons why you will love The Hay Barn holiday cottage…

1. Generous and comfortable bedrooms

All of the bedrooms in the Hay Barn are en-suite, and all have very generous proportions. Even if you are staying here with a family of 8, you will have space and room to really relax. Take your pick from the huge ground-level bedroom with a walk-in shower to one of the bedrooms with a luxurious mezzanine level for the bath…

2. Entertainment guaranteed

The games room at The Hay Barn

The Hay Barn comes complete with every conceivable luxury extra including (deep breath) a hot tub, sauna, gym, games room with Wii, table football and piano, Wi-Fi, SKY TV and DVD player with films. This large luxury cottage in Yorkshire even features a treatment room where you can arrange for the local therapist to come out and pamper you for the day.

3. See the best of the North York Moors

The North York Moors is one of the most stunning landscapes in Yorkshire and the UK for that matter. The Hay Barn holiday cottage is perfectly placed to be able to venture out and experience the very best of it. You are within easy reach of Castle Howard, Helmsley, the heather-clad moors north of Pickering, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway… it’s all just a short drive away from this fabulous luxury holiday cottage.

4. Fine dining

The Star Inn, Harome

Some of the best restaurants and gastropubs in the North York Moors are within a few miles drive of the Hay Barn. Enjoy dinner at The Star Inn at Harome, The Feversham Arms Hotel in Helmsley, The Durham Ox Crayke or the Michelin-starred Black Swan at Oldstead – some of the finest restaurants and gastropubs in Yorkshire and all within a few miles' radius of this luxury large cottage.

5. Quintessentially Yorkshire

The Malt Shovel Hovingham

The Hay Barn is within walking distance to the charming little village of Hovingham. I think one it’s one of the prettiest villages in the North York Moors and is the essence of what makes this place such a delight to visit. There are a couple of village pubs – The Malt Shovel serves excellent food – a little tea room, a post-office, a village green (complete with stream)… I think you get the picture. It’s heavenly!

The Hay Barn is one of our celebration Yorkshire cottages set in the North York Moors. It’s available to book for holidays and short breaks throughout the year, including the summer months. And the hot tub is always on!
