Five things to love about Nurse Cherry Cottage, Reeth

Nurse Cherry Cottage is one of those holiday cottages you arrive at and think, yup – this is perfect. It’s just so sweet, so well cared for, and the location is nearing perfection.

When I visited the cottage a few weeks ago we were lucky enough to have enjoyed a gloriously sunny day, and the village of Reeth and Swaledale beyond were just gleaming in the sunshine. But whatever the weather, I guarantee you will fall in love with Nurse Cherry Cottage, and here are 5 reasons why…

1. That holiday home feeling

This gorgeous luxury cottage in Swaledale has an irresistible holiday feel to it. Something to do with the vintage touches, the way the light falls, the general cosiness of the place; it’s just the perfect Yorkshire holiday retreat…

2. G & T anyone?

Nurse Cherry Cottage Reeth Swaledale

The garden at Nurse Cherry Cottage is divine. An elevated lawn rests under the shade of a mature tree and from your spot on the bench you can see beyond the cottage down across Swaledale. It’s quiet, peaceful and quite idyllic – just the kind of place I like to indulge with an afternoon G & T.

3. Location, location, location!

Reeth in Swaledale - the beautiful village green

If you’re familiar with Reeth you will be well aware of its charms. Set on the river Swale the Dales backdrop is enough of a reason to stop a while in this pretty Yorkshire Dales village. But if you take into account the large village green, the good collection of craft shops, cafes and pubs, and the very cute ice cream parlour, it’s a little slice of Yorkshire holiday heaven.

4. And so to bed…

The lovely peaceful bedroom in Nurse Cherry Cottage

The master bedroom in Nurse Cherry Cottage is a very peaceful and calm spot. With two windows looking down towards the river it’s also very bright and sunny, and just a happy place to rest your head. Antique pine furniture and vintage accents complete the country cottage look.

5. Can’t cook, won’t cook

Punch Bowl Inn Low Row - just a stone's throw from The Old School

Well, even if you can cook, Nurse Cherry Cottage is a great holiday cottage to choose. The local market on a Friday is the place to pick up local fish, meat and cheese. And if you really can’t be bothered – hey you are on holiday after all – make your way to one of a plethora of good restaurants and gastropubs in the area, including the excellent Punch Bowl Inn just a few minutes away by car.
