If you’re looking for a dog-friendly holiday cottage with lots of character and charm, then I think Fig Tree Cottage in Marton-le-Moor fits the bill perfectly.

This idyllic property has everything you would expect from a country cottage with elegant interiors, views of the surrounding countryside and a lovely enclosed patio.

It’s an ideal spot for a relaxing short break or holiday!
Here are some of our top reasons for a visit to Fig Tree Cottage:
A perfect base for exploring Yorkshire

The pretty village of Marton-le-Moor is as peaceful as can be yet is in easy reach of some of Yorkshire’s major access roads. The A1, A61 and A168 are all close by, so you can easily get to places like Ripon, Harrogate, Thirsk, Richmond or even Leeds.
It’s about halfway between the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors so you can enjoy a trip to two national parks during your stay and choose which one is your favourite. Personally, I love them both equally so having easy access to both is a winner with me.

Newby Hall & Gardens is just a short drive away so well worth a visit too.
A dog-friendly cottage – up to three doggies are welcome!
Dogs will be made more than welcome on a visit to Fig Tree Cottage with up to three being able to enjoy a stay at any one time. Doggies will love a daily walk around the pretty village of Marton-le-Moor and you’ll meet other friendly dogs (and their owners) along the way who’ll stop to say hello.

Dogs will love a break to the Yorkshire countryside and there are lots of other walks to try in the surrounding countryside too!
The open-plan living space with wooden floors works well for four-legged friends with the door leading straight into your private courtyard garden.
Friendly owners
Fig Tree Cottage has been a labour of love for owner Wendy, and what was once her painting studio has been completely transformed into an idyllic country cottage. Wendy’s paintings adorn the walls and it’s clear that a lot of love and attention has gone into this wonderful property.

You’ll be greeted warmly with a lovely welcome hamper and it is clear that nothing is too much trouble. Whether you want to be left alone for your stay or get a lift to a nearby pub or restaurant, Wendy is happy to oblige.
The lovely courtyard even includes a herb garden from which guests are free to pick their own herbs to use when cooking.
A peaceful spot to relax

Marton-le-Moor is a sleepy little village that’s around 4 miles from Ripon and I think it’s a great choice for a peaceful and relaxing break. Fig Tree Cottage is tucked away down a quiet lane and surrounded by open countryside.
You can take a seat in the courtyard garden, breathe in the scent of lavender and listen for the sound of birdsong. The garden is carefully tended to by the owners so is a great place for a morning cuppa, a glass of wine or a bite to eat.
A beautiful country cottage
Fig Tree Cottage is one of those properties that you can feel at home in as soon as you walk in. It manages to be both elegant and welcoming with painted furniture that’s just right for a country cottage. My favourite piece of furniture in the cottage is the French king-size bed in the master bedroom – perfect for a relaxing night in.
The second bedroom has twin beds so it’s a great choice for families and both bedrooms come with their own en-suite bathroom. Find out more.
