Getting to know Gorgeous Cottages - Christina Brion

Christina Brion is the Managing Director and founder of Gorgeous Cottages. Mum of two and lover of all things Gorgeous, she is from Northern Ireland originally, and has been living in Yorkshire for almost 20 years.

We’ve made her a nice cup of Yorkshire Tea and sat her down to find out a little more about the lady behind the company. And we’ve dropped the corporate questions in favour of some more interesting ones this time!

Getting to know Christina Brion

What makes you happy?

I am at my happiest when I can hear my daughters Florence and Poppy playing contentedly together with each other, singing and laughing away. There is no better feeling. And lots of other things make me happy too. Big Saturday breakfasts, dinner out with Phil my husband (when we get a chance these days!), music, wine. The world is a wonderful place!

What’s your favourite programme?

Mad Men, without a doubt the best series I’ve ever watched. Fantastic writing, characters, I love everything about it. Also loved Breaking Bad and obsessed with Walking Dead too!

What was the last gift you gave to someone?

Florence and Poppy at The Yorkshire Wildlife Park

It was my youngest daughter Florence’s birthday recently and I gave her a Disney Frozen keyboard amongst other things. And we took her on a lovely day out to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

What 3 things would you bring with you to a desert island?

Excluding Phil, Poppy & Florence? It would have to be my iPhone – well everywhere has Wi-Fi now – a good book (am reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt at the moment) and a case of red wine.

What’s your favourite place in the world?

Joe Cornish

Oooh tough. I would be absolutely torn between the North York Moors in Yorkshire and Lough Fea in Northern Ireland where my father’s family are from. Both similar in look actually: wild and gorgeous.

What is your favourite food?

Depends on my mood. Although heralding from Northern Ireland if I don’t have potato on my plate I’m not happy. Give me a big bowl of buttery salty mash and I’m in heaven. I love Italian food too, a simple tomato spaghetti can be the best thing on earth.

Your perfect Sunday?

Mmmm. Having a little lie in (and by that I mean until about 8am) moseying downstairs in my pyjamas to the smell of bacon frying in the pan. Getting ready at a leisurely pace and heading out for the day with the family. Throw in Sunday lunch, a glass of red, then back home for a movie in front of the fire.
