Six reasons to visit Rose Cottage in Helmsley holiday cottages

Six reasons to visit Rose Cottage in Helmsley

1. One of the best spots in town

Rose Cottage is quite literally just around the corner from the Feversham Arms Hotel in Helmsley. Walk the few steps each morning to this lovely venue and sit beside their Verbena Spa outside pool for an al fresco coffee – very continental!

The spacious property is part of a small modern development that has views down to the historic Black Swan Hotel, which you can also reach in minutes via the path through Helmsley Church.

They serve a very nice afternoon tea which you can enjoy in the beautiful walled gardens or inside the traditional tea room.

Despite being so close to everything, you also feel tucked away at Rose Cottage and the property is surprisingly quiet and peaceful.

2. No fighting over the bathroom

Who wants to fight over the bathroom when you are on holiday? Certainly not me – I like to be able to take my time getting ready! Rose Cottage has three top-spec bathrooms to match its three bedrooms – two en-suite shower rooms and a house bathroom that has an indulgent jacuzzi bath. Something to keep everyone happy!

3. A space of your own

One of my favourite things about Rose Cottage is the lower ground floor. Head down the stairs (lit by LED spotlights) and it’s liking having your own private apartment with a separate living room, large bedroom and an en-suite shower room.

You can even head straight out into a courtyard with table and chairs for a morning cuppa (a kettle is handily provided in the utility room down here).

This space is ideal for older members of a group who want a bit of quiet time.

4. Make yourself at home

It’s easy to make yourself at home here with a comfortable living room and sociable kitchen/diner.

There are lots of nice touches from the owner – I particularly like the wall art in the kitchen which incorporates chalkboards where you can draw a picture or leave a message.

I also loved the Nespresso with Aeroccino which you can use to make yourself a frothy coffee and the Victoria sponge that is left (along with a generous welcome hamper) to greet guests

5. Enjoy the best of the town

Hunters of Helmsley

There really is so much to do on your doorstep in Helmsley – you could park up your car (there is a private car park space provided) and just leave it as you explore this charming market town. You can eat somewhere different each day and have a few drinks at somewhere like Helmsley Brewing Company before wandering back to Rose Cottage.

When the weather is nice the outdoor pool is a few minutes’ walk away and there is also a walled garden and Helmsley Castle to explore.

6. Or the best of the countryside….

Helmsley is located right inside the North York Moors National Park so you’ll always find somewhere nice to head to with a picnic. You can do a lovely circular walk to nearby Rievaulx Abbey and enjoy the views from Rievaulx Terrace.

Alternatively, take a stroll to nearby Harome and treat yourself to lunch at the Starr Inn at Harome (it has a Michelin star so booking is advisable).

Hutton Le Hole

If you want to take the car, you can head to some spectacular viewing spots like Blakey Ridge and gorgeous nearby villages like Hutton-le-Hole. You could even take your bike for exploring and store it in the owner’s secure garage.
