Top 10 golf courses in Yorkshire
1. Fulford Golf Club – Est. 1906
@fulfordgolfclub
Fulford Golf Club is set on picturesque lowland just outside the historic city of York. It has played host to many top class international golfing events in its 100-year history, the most recent of which was the European Ladies Championship in July 2013. The course itself is a joy to play, with gentle wood-lined fairways, sandy heathland and heather hazards to navigate. And when you’ve finished playing you can head into town and enjoy the many delights of York itself.
2. Ganton Golf Club – Est. 1891
@pabstagram3142
The prestigious and historic Ganton Golf Club is regularly listed as one of the top clubs in Europe and indeed the world. Set in the Vale of Pickering between York and Scarborough, Ganton has hosted the Ryder Cup, Walker Cup and Curtis Cup at various points in its impressive history. The course is firm and fast, with a blend of links and heathland throughout. Watch out for the round-destroying bunkers! Ganton is a beautiful course and a true reflection of Yorkshire’s place in British Golfing heritage.

3. York Golf Club – Est. 1890
One of the oldest golf clubs in Yorkshire, York Golf Cub moved location to its current home in Strensall back in 1904 and has a long history in the area. The club today is going through extensive development to continue providing a fantastic golf experience for members and visitors alike. The par 3 7th is the standout hole on this scenic course.
4. Huddersfield Golf Club – Est. 1891
@huddersfieldgc1891
Said by some to be the home of Yorkshire golf, Huddersfield Golf Course at Fixby is certainly one of the finest golf courses in the North. Spacious but challenging fairways, stunning views of the Pennines and a charming Grade II Listed Clubhouse combine to create a rather magical golfing experience.
5. Pannal Golf Club – Est. 1906
@pannalgolfclub
Set just south of Harrogate, it’s said you can see the spires of the York Minster from the fairways of Pannal Golf Club. This is another of Yorkshire’s grand historic courses, dating back over 100 years. A Yorkshire moorland course, it is a regional qualifying course for the Open and as such can be a testing course.
6. Moor Allerton Golf Club – Est. 1923
@sam_gman
Again set just outside of cosmopolitan Leeds, the course at Moor Allerton Golf Club was designed by famous golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Senior. The course is set within 220 acres of undulating Yorkshire countryside with natural water features throughout to challenge even the most seasoned professional. Playing host to golfing greats such as Gary Player and Seve Ballesteros and with a host of impressive facilities to boot, it's easily one of Yorkshire’s top 10 golf courses.
7. Ilkley Golf Club – Est. 1890
With a beautiful river setting, the course at Ilkley Golf Club is one of the most scenic golf courses in Yorkshire. Ilkley is where Colin Montgomerie learned his trade here and said of the course ‘it combines a challenging test of golf with breathtaking scenery and it is always a pleasure to play there.' A wonderful recommendation from one of the world’s top players…
8. Lindrick Golf Club – Est. 1891
@waynecoda
In 1957 Lindrick Golf Club was the setting for the first victory by Britain & Ireland in the Ryder Cup since 1927, reason enough for it to hold a fond place in many golfers' hearts. This beautiful Yorkshire course has a reputation of being one the UK’s best inland courses. Expect fast and firm greens, gorse-lined fairways and excellent playing conditions, whatever the weather.
9. Hawtree at Rudding Park
@ruddingparkgolf
The championship 18-hole golf course at Rudding Park is set within stunning 18th-century parkland in the grounds of this prestigious Yorkshire Hotel. Just a hop, skip and jump from central Harrogate the course itself was designed by renowned golf course architect Martin Hawtree and is a testing course for a keen golfer.
10. Saltburn Golf Club – Est. 1894
Designed by legendary course architect James Braid, this charming golf course sits on the outskirts of the charming town of Saltburn on the Yorkshire coast. There are bigger and grander courses in Yorkshire, but we think Saltburn deserves its place in the top 10 golf courses in Yorkshire both for the panoramic views of Yorkshire’s coastline and a particularly good par 3 on the 12th hole.
