York Christmas Festival

1. York Christmas Festival - 14th November - 22nd December

A huge event in York and one that many thousands of people in Yorkshire and beyond look forward to each year. York is the ultimate Christmas shopping destination. Its beautiful medieval streets are packed with independent shops, cosy cafes and excellent restaurants. The St. Nicholas Fayre is the icing on the Christmas cake with hundreds of stalls selling gifts, local food and all manner of lovely things.

2. Harrogate Christmas Market - 14th - 17th November 2019

Harrogate is a fabulous destination for Christmas shopping anyway with its gorgeous Victorian shop fronts and independent boutiques. But it’s even more special when the Christmas market comes to town. Expect over 140 chalets located in the historic Montpellier Quarter selling everything from traditional decorations to Yorkshire cheese! You can always combine a visit with afternoon tea at Bettys!

3. Christmas Craft & Food Fair Sledmere House - 6th - 8th December 2019

Featuring over 100 stalls, this wonderful Christmas market is set in the grounds of Sledmere House, a stunning Georgian home and estate in the Yorkshire Wolds. In addition to the stalls, you can walk in the gardens (normally closed at this time of year), treat the kids to a ride on a tractor & trailer ride to the Deer Park and pop in and see Santa while you’re there.

4. Grassington Dickensian Festival - 30th November and 7th December

A very Christmassy festival. It sounds like a cliché but it really is like stepping back in time. The market square in Grassington comes alive with a traditional market while the shopkeepers and villagers dress in Victorian costume.

5. Beverley Festival of Christmas - 5th - 8th December

One of the largest Christmas markets in Yorkshire, the Beverley Festival of Christmas has been running annually now for almost 20 years. There are a whole range of events, stalls, music and entertainment to enjoy including a festival parade and lots of choir singing. Just what you need to get you in the mood!

6. Country Living Fair Harrogate - 5th - 8th December

Something a little bit different, this is another much-loved Christmas market in Yorkshire organised by Country Living magazine. Unlike the other Yorkshire markets, it takes place indoors, but still has that same magical appeal. Expect top class gifts, beautiful crafts and lots of festive food and drink.
