The weather is starting to get warmer, outdoor attractions are open for the season and a certain bunny has left trails of eggs all over Yorkshire - it’s starting to look a lot like Easter!
There are family-friendly events and new-born lambs springing up all over the region making the Easter holidays an ideal time to gather your chicks and plan a fun-filled Yorkshire holiday.
#01 Burton Agnes Hall Easter Trail
The Easter Bunny has taken over the gardens and grounds of Burton Agnes Hall and hidden clues all over this grand country estate. If children can solve the riddles, they will be rewarded with a special Easter treat for their efforts. There’s also a giant golden egg to find, vintage rides dotted around the grounds and a range of crafty activities to try. After all the fun, you can head to the Burton Agnes cafe for tea and cake or a tasty Easter lunch.

#02 Thorp Perrow Arboretum Easter Trail
This special Easter trail blossom, bluebell and wildflower trail to tackle that takes in some of the prettiest patches of spring flowers at this gorgeous Bedale garden.
Make sure you call in at the Thorp Perrow Mammal Centre during your visit to see the meerkats, wallabies and baby spring lambs having some Easter fun of their own.

#03 Bolton Abbey Easter Trail
Bolton Abbey is the perfect spot for a springtime outdoor adventure with a series of stepping stones across the River Wharfe, an array of woodland wildlife to spot and some wonderful family-friendly walks to try.
During the Easter holidays, there are bunnies hiding out all over Bolton Abbey’s Strid Wood and children will have lots of fun seeking them out as they search amongst the trees for these larger than life characters.

#04 Ripon Races Easter Family Day
There’s fun for everyone at this Easter racing fixture at Ripon Races. Adults can enjoy an action-packed day of horse racing at Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse while there are playgrounds, bouncy castles and face painting to keep little ones happy. There’s also a mini farm, balloon modelling and free chocolate for all children at this special family-friendly race meeting.

#05 York’s Chocolate Story Easter Festival
York’s Chocolate Story is a celebration of all things chocolatey so it’s only right that they are holding some special chocolate egg hunts in York’s Merchant Adventurer’s Hall for Easter. Children will need to seek out the missing chocolate eggs and there will be games, colourful characters and lots of fun to be had along the way.
If you fancy learning how to create your own chocolate egg, there will also be some Easter masterclasses where their expert chocolatiers will teach you the tricks and techniques needed to create a chocolate masterpiece.

#07 Easter at Yorkshire Wildlife Park
Peter Pan is flying into Yorkshire Wildlife Park for an Easter adventure in aid of Great Ormond Street that includes live shows, wild animals and the fearsome Captain Hook. There’s lots of family fun to be had at the UK’s leading walk-through wildlife park with a range of animal experiences and both indoor and outdoor play areas available.

#08 Whitby Abbey Easter Adventure Quest
Climb up 199 steps to soak up the stunning views of Whitby before undertaking the Easter trail around gothic Whitby Abbey to track down a legendary dragon’s egg within the grounds. Adventurers who are successful in their quest will be rewarded with some delicious Easter treats from Hotel Chocolat. While here, it’s worth visiting the on-site museum to learn about Whitby Abbey’s past including how it inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

#09 Nunnington Hall Cadbury Easter Trail
Nunnington Hall is just one of a selection of National Trust properties within Yorkshire where families can take part in a special Cadbury Easter Trail around the grounds. Children can hunt for clues around the gardens, learn more about the grounds and complete an answer sheet to get their hands on the chocolate egg prize.
Other Cadbury Easter Trails are available at Rievaulx Terrace, Fountains Abbey and Treasurer’s House in York.

#10 Sledmere House Eggstraordinary Easter Weekend
Sledmere is a grand country estate that’s filled with family-friendly activities throughout the year and Easter is no exception. Children can get up close to baby spring lambs in the farm park, have fun at the Spotty Pig Adventure Playground and take part in a range of Easter trails and craft activities.
You can pick up some tasty Easter treats in the Sledmere Farm Shop and enjoy lunch at the on-site Coach House Café.

#11 Hebden Bridge Easter Duck Race
The Hebden Bridge Easter Duck Race sees up to 10,000 yellow ducks get launched into the River Calder every Easter Monday for a highly competitive race across the water. Tickets to enter the race are just £1 and the winning duck will land their owner a whopping £300.
The race proper starts at 3.15pm when the ducks set off from the town’s St George’s Bridge but there’s lots of family-friendly entertainment throughout the town during the day including children’s rides and live music.

#12 Newby Hall Enchanted Wood
The grounds of Newby Hall near Ripon will be transformed into an enchanted wood for Easter with a giant’s table and fairy doors amongst the things that children can find as they solve clues along a magical trail. There’s lots to enjoy during a visit to this Yorkshire stately home including a miniature railway that travels around the grounds and riverboat trips that depart from the bottom of the garden.

#13 Mother Shipton’s Cave Hoppity Hop Easter
There’s going to be a Hoppity Hop Easter at the mystical Mother Shipton’s Cave in Knaresborough with fun-filled trails through the ancient park and some lost woodland bunnies to be found. Children can also watch some baby Easter chicks being hatched in special incubators before decorating eggs and helping Mr McGregor with his vegetable patch.

#14 Studfold Easter Egg Hunt
Take part in the Great Studfold Easter Egg and Fairy Hunt at this popular family-friendly attraction near Pateley Bridge. A clue sheet will help youngsters discover the Studfold Fairies and there are also coloured eggs and gold rabbits to hunt out along the way.
Children can take part in a range of craft activities at Studfold during the Easter holiday visit and you can bring along a picnic to enjoy afterwards.

#15 Easter at Thornton Hall Country Park
There’s lots of fun on the farm to be had at Thornton Hall Country Park near Skipton. Children can enjoy a range of animal encounters including collecting freshly laid eggs and feeding the baby spring lambs. Peter Rabbit will be making some appearances on Easter Sunday and there are fancy dress Easter parties for toddlers on the 2nd and 3rd April.
