This immaculate property in the peaceful village of Sinderby is a wonderful rural retreat for couples. Situated almost exactly halfway between the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the North York Moors National Park, you will have easy access to the variety of stunning landscapes on offer. Nidderdale AONB also borders the Yorkshire Dales National Park with its heather-clad countryside and iconic stone walls. Whether you’re walking or cycling enthusiasts, you’ll have plenty of trails and routes to choose from in this area of Yorkshire. There are also lots of lively market towns and villages to wander around, all with a unique range of independent shops and eateries. Various attractions nearby are sure to suit all interests, whether you’re into history, architecture or gardens. If you don’t feel like cooking at the end of a busy day exploring, you can head to the nearest pub, which is only a mile away.

This one-storey contemporary property has been lovingly decorated and finished to a very high standard thus creating a comfortable home with a touch of luxurious elegance. With plenty of space and no steps, it is particularly well-suited to guests who find it difficult to move around with ease.

Stepping into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, you will see how the vaulted ceilings enhance the sense of space with plenty of windows bringing in light. The kitchen/diner is a great size and is well-equipped to allow you to cater for all your guests’ needs. The comfy sofas and heavy curtains make the lounge area feel snug and cosy – it’s a great place to settle down of an evening in front of the wood burner, should the underfloor heating not suffice.

Like the living area, the king-size bedroom (which can be made up as a twin on request) is a good size with its high ceiling, neutral tones and simple furniture making it feel calm and restful. The en-suite bathroom has a shower over the spa bath, which will refresh those aching limbs after a day out walking or cycling. You can then relax in one of the soft, fluffy robes provided.

Outside, the property has a patio with dining furniture and a BBQ and backs on to the village green, once again adding to the feeling of space. Guests are also welcome to explore the owner’s farm and pick up fresh eggs from the hen house.

  • 1 king-size bedroom En-suite bathroom with shower-over-spa bath and WC TV/DVD, plus Smart TV in the bedroom
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Wood burner with first basket of logs provided (extra available to purchase)
  • Oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washer/dryer

The attractive town of Bedale (8.5 miles) is always worth a visit. Stop for a coffee before making your way around the town's antique shops and independent boutiques. Foodies will be delighted by the range of local produce, including beers and cheeses on offer.

The vibrant cathedral city of Ripon (9 miles) boasts a Thursday market, numerous coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and a nice collection of independent shops to explore. The cathedral is smaller than its close neighbour, York Minster, but is still an awe-inspiring sight. In addition, every night for at least 450 years the Ripon Hornblower has sounded the curfew at 9pm from all four sides of the obelisk in the market place, come rain or shine, followed by a 15-minute history of the ceremony and the city – an experience not to be missed! If you are partial to a flutter, Ripon Race Ground has around 15 meets from April to early September. Known as 'Yorkshire's Garden Racecourse' it has a distinct atmosphere harking back to a bygone era – traditional tea rooms and bandstands sit alongside the champagne bar.

This area of Yorkshire has enough historical sites to keep you busy for a week with Ripley Castle (16.5 miles), Newby Hall (12 miles) and Norton Conyers (5.5 miles). Visit lovely Fountains Abbey and the gorgeous Studley Royal Water Garden, 12.5 miles away – this World Heritage site is deservedly one of the National Trust's most visited locations. As well as the spectacular ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian abbey, the grounds are home to an Elizabethan mansion, a medieval deer park and some of the most romantic vistas in the country.

Harrogate (20 miles) is an absolute must-visit if you're staying here. Encircled by its famous Stray, or 200 acres, of horseshoe-shaped grassland, the Victorian spa town of Harrogate has a bright and breezy open-air feel and is characterised by its impressive floral displays. And as you would expect of such a bustling upbeat town, Harrogate boasts over 300 bars and restaurants together with all the shops, cinemas, parks and gardens you could ever wish for.

The vibrant little village of Osmotherley (18 miles) on the western side of the North York Moors is well-known as a starting point for walkers and cyclists. This gorgeous little place is real picture-postcard stuff. It also offers excellent facilities including a cafe, village stores and a fish and chip shop. If you're a bit of a foodie, this part of Yorkshire is packed with fantastic gastropubs, restaurants and delis.
