This beautiful presented two-bedroom cottage with far reaching views across open countryside to the Hambleton Hills has elegant comfortable interiors and extensive grounds, which include an orchard. It's the perfect holiday home for families and couples yearning to escape to the country. Dating back to the 1800s, this lovely period property once accommodated the drovers who moved livestock up and down the country. Today it's been transformed by a recent refurbishment into a luxurious and stylish holiday home. Despite introducing modern comforts, the inherent character of the building has been maintained – you'll find the original beams overhead throughout downstairs ceilings.

At the heart of the home is a cosy welcoming lounge with the choice of a comfy sofa or armchair to snuggle up on. Sitting under an inglenook fireplace is the wood-burning stove making sure everyone is nice and toasty. Take a look out the window for the most glorious countryside views, just one of the things that makes this property so special. Wi-Fi is also available if you need to catch up online, and there is a TV, so you don't fall behind on your binge watching. In the next room you'll find a beautiful open-plan space home to the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen features stylish grey units and a sleek granite work-top. All mod cons are provided including an induction hob, fan oven, dishwasher and fridge. A further utility / boot room sits next door and houses a freezer and washer/dryer – a must for little ones' muddy clothes or if you enjoy walking. This area also accommodates a handy downstairs loo. From the kitchen head into the dining area featuring a traditional farmhouse table and chairs. A small inglenook fireplace is home to an electric flame-effect fire, to keep you cosy from breakfast to dinner. There's also a snuggly Laura Ashley-style sofa in here, just the spot to chill with a glass of wine before eats.

Both of the bedrooms in cottage are upstairs and both enjoy generous en-suite facilities. The first boasts a super-king-size bed which can be configured as two singles if requested. Top quality comfort sprung mattresses ensure a quality night's sleep. A wall mounted TV allows you your favourite shows any time of day. This room has an en-suite shower room with a large walk-in monsoon shower. The second double also contains a super-king bed, comfort sprung mattress and wall-mounted TV. The en-suite for this room has a walk-in shower and a separate bath made for those long hot soaks, something you only seem to have time for on holiday. Also, good news if you need to scrub down children. Whilst upstairs you will also encounter a cosy little recess in the landing complete with an armchair and book case. Choose a book and squirrel yourself away in here for the afternoon.

There is much to enjoy outside too, set within the property's extensive grounds enjoys a lovely rural aspect with gorgeous countryside on all sides. There's an enclosed orchard to explore where you'll find Bramley Apples and other fruit trees. Enjoy lunch al fresco on the outdoor table and chairs, a pleasure when the only sound is that of Yorkshire birdsong all around. A BBQ is also provided so you can make the most of those summer evenings. There is off-road parking for several cars.

This is a perfect place for peace and relaxation. It was quiet, clean and comfortable and the ideal place for 2 couples with each bedroom having its own en suite. This was a delightful , spotless property with comfy beds and sofas, beautiful bedding and super huge towels. The village of Burton Leonard has a pub and a shop 2 minutes by car but is a good walk along a quite narrow and fairly busy road. Good position for trips into Ripon, ( cathedral beautiful ) Harrogate and to Thirsk and further afield. RecommRead moreend a visit to the World of James Herriot museum in Thirsk.
