Elegant, stylish and comfortable - welcome to the gorgeous property inside a 16th century manor house in Moulton, a pretty village in North Yorkshire. This cosy one-bedroom cottage is a delicious mix of old and new. Nestling between the Dales and the North York Moors with a fantastic foodie pub just a stone's throw away, the location is excellent too. The perfect country hideaway for couples and solo travellers looking for a spot of grandeur. This one-bedroom holiday cottage occupies the first floor of a striking Elizabethan-era manor house. Looking out towards the summer house and garden on one side and a pretty courtyard to the other, it offers total peace and tranquillity for those who want to escape the hustle bustle of modern-day life.

Enter via a private entrance and up the stairs to your own little slice of heaven. The landing gives an immediate sense of personality with its well-placed antiques and graceful decor. Make your way into the open plan living area which includes the kitchen, dining area and cosy lounge. Each guest will arrive to a gorgeous welcome hamper, so pull up a chair and indulge in some home-baked treats while your loved one rustles up a cup of Yorkshire tea. The sleek contemporary-style kitchen comes complete with everything you will need during your stay including a hob, oven, fridge (with freezer drawer) and a microwave. Whilst you rustle up an indulgent cooked breakfast take some time to admire the original artwork on the walls.

Later, as the evening draws in, fire up the wood burner and stake your claim to the armchair by the fire with a good book - no-one minds if you change into your pyjamas a little early. And if reading seems like too much effort snuggle down to a movie on the TV or catch up with things online with the high-speed broadband.

The huge master bedroom boasts a super-king-size with bespoke headboard, an original fireplace and double aspect windows. The bed can also be set as two singles upon request at the point of booking. The bathroom is just next door, a statement in period style with its antique roll-top bath and neutral hues. Draw yourself a bath each evening and enjoy the sights and sounds of an English country garden from the comfort of the warm water.

The outside space is equally impressive. You have direct access to stunning grounds which include a garden lawn, patio area, summerhouse and an immaculate hard-surface tennis court. There's lockable storage for bicycles and a BBQ for those balmy summer evenings.

Spacious, stylish, comfortable, peaceful. And many interesting places only a short drive away: Richmond - charming, friendly town with a Georgian Theatre, Castle and excellent History Museum; Easby Abbey and St Agnes Church; Thirsk with the James Heriot Museum; and much more a little further afield.

Butlers retreat is part of a great historic mansion. We arrived to a picturesque courtyard with a pear tree heavily laden with fruits and beautiful flower beds. The accommodation is tastefully decorated with original art, painted by Colleen, our hostess. We felt this was a generous gesture from her and her husband, Andrew.
