Stay at this exquisite, bijou holiday cottage tucked away in a quiet location in Helmsley; one of the prettiest and most visited market towns in Yorkshire. There is so much to love about this gorgeous little cottage including beautiful contemporary interiors, a cosy wood-burning stove and a stylish urban garden to enjoy. And of course the delights of Helmsley on your doorstep boasting a world class spa and several fine dining restaurants among its many charms. The perfect grown up retreat. The cottage has been transformed into an elegant and luxurious holiday home. It's perfect for couples or young families looking for stylish accommodation in a fantastic market town location. Downstairs you'll find an open-plan space home to the lounge, kitchen and dining area. Heated oak flooring keeps everything nice and toasty and a wood-burning stove provides that real fire atmosphere when you want it. Take your pick from a plush blue velvet sofa or a handsome orange armchair to curl up on. There's a TV with Freeview if you fancy a movie in front of the fire, and high-speed Wi-Fi is provided too. If you want to unplug for a while there are also lots of books and magazines to delve into.

The well-designed kitchen has elegant grey units and a sleek white work-top. All mod cons are provided including a ceramic hob, dishwasher and fridge with an ice-box, essential for a chilled drink in the garden. There's also a washing machine, a must if you've been hiking across the moors all day. The dining table sits within an alcove just beside the kitchen. With sunlight streaming in from the rear glass door and a dimmable copper pendant overhead, this is a delightful spot for dining whatever the time of day. Grab yourself some top-notch local produce from one of the excellent delis in town and settle down to a long lazy lunch over a bottle of something good. Both of the bedrooms are upstairs. The chic master bedroom has a striking blue feature wall, a king-size oak bed and a rather divine little walk-in wardrobe. The sweet single second bedroom sits next door. Take a look out the window to find a great view across the rooftops to Helmsley Castle. Upstairs is also home to the wet-room with its large walk-in monsoon shower, the perfect way to wake up each morning.

There is much to enjoy outside this charming cottage too. To the front there's a small open garden complete with a bench; make the most of the morning sun with coffee here each morning. To the rear discover a super-stylish contemporary garden which would look at home at Chelsea Flower Show. Sleek sandstone underfoot, cedar panelling and bright white walls combine to create a modern urban feel. The rear garden enjoys sun all afternoon and evening so make the most of it with lunch al fresco. Garden furniture and a BBQ are provided. Off-road parking for one car is included - a big bonus for Helmsley.

This property is set in the gorgeous market town of Helmsley, a real picture-postcard place with lots to do and see. Nestled perfectly at the foot of the North York Moors National Park, but just 24 miles north of York, its timeless elegance is a magnet to tourists, artists and photographers alike. Helmsley is a foodie heaven, packed with exquisite tea-rooms, cafes and on the pulse organic delis. It's also surrounded by some of the best gastro pubs in the UK. Tucked alongside these culinary delights are lots of unique shops, art galleries and antique dealers, easily enough to build up an appetite for lunch. Throw in a castle, a chic little micro-brewery and some of the most stunning countryside in the UK into the mix and you might just have the perfect holiday location.

At the heart of the town square is a statue of Lord Feversham, a distant ancestor of the current Lord who resides in Duncombe Park. This stunning baroque mansion sits on the outskirts of town and is a good choice for an afternoon's sightseeing. If you want to indulge in some more architectural desires, the equally grand Nunnington Hall a few miles south east of the town is another grand abode worth a peek. The neighbouring town of Pickering is similar in many ways and is host to its own delightful set of shops, cafes and restaurants. A few miles further on takes you to Thornton-Le-Dale, a picture-perfect North York Moors village with thatched houses and a sleepy little brook. Stop for some ice cream here and remind yourself how nice life in the slow lane feels like. With the North York Moors on your doorstep, you can be heading for a jaunt over the hills in no time. This glorious expanse of heather-clad countryside is simply stunning, and it's well worth taking some time to explore it properly.

Somewhat smaller than the Yorkshire Dales, the North Yorkshire Moors still cover an area of almost 600 square miles and like the Dales you can easily find yourself miles from anywhere relatively quickly. But there is something distinctly more civilised and less remote about the Moors. There is a sense of wilderness, particularly on top of the high central moorlands, but its cast in comforting soft focus.

Very cosy and comfortable cottage in a great location only a short walk from Helmsley market square. Welcome pack was gratefully received. The last cottage we stayed in didn't even have salt snd pepper so it was a lovely surprise to have the essentials provided ( teabags, oil etc). Beds were super comfy too.
