The cottage sits within lovely mature gardens with a delightful terrace and barbeque house. There are panoramic views from almost every room over adjoining farmland towards the moors and dales of the National Park - it really is the perfect family retreat. Downstairs there's a large living room with an open fire to gather around each evening (a basket of logs is provided for your first couple of fires). A TV if you fancy chilling out with a movie. With its elegant painted wood panelling it's like having your very own private members club to escape to.

The bedrooms are set out across the first and second floors. Bedroom one on the first floor is a lovely king-size room with an en-suite shower room and WC. Bedrooms two and three are also on this floor, both charming twin which share a bathroom. The bathroom features a bath, separate walk-in shower and WC. The fourth bedroom has the top floor all to itself and has a double bed with en-suite shower room.

The beautiful south-facing garden has a lawn area, perfect for stretching out with a blanket and a good book in the summer months. There's also a terrace for al-fresco dining and a BBQ house which is useable throughout the year. Lockable storage for bikes is available.

Nestling in an absolutely magical spot at the edge of the village of Goathland (famous as the location for the TV series Heartbeat) it's within short walking distance of everything that this stunning moorland village has to offer. There are a handful of gorgeous little tea-rooms, sweet village shops, a Post Office and several good pubs all offering good food and all within a few minutes' walk of the property. The beautifully preserved heritage train station at Goathland, famed for its alternative life as Hogsmeade station in the popular Harry Potter films, sits on the North York Moors Railway line from Whitby to Pickering. You can hop on a steam train here throughout the year and enjoy a traditional ride through some truly stunning scenery.

If you enjoy the outdoors you are in heaven here as the cottage is set at the heart of the North York Moors National Park. There are walking trails in every direction. Unenclosed and unsurpassed this stunning landscape, famed for its wild moorland, hidden dales, pretty villages and market towns, is simply breathtaking. See if you can discover one of the several waterfalls in the area including Mallyan Spout, Falling Foss, and Thomason Foss.

Take a tour of the impossibly pretty towns and villages in the area, Whitby and Egton (both 10 miles). A few miles east from here takes you to the stunning North Yorkshire coastline, a heady mix of rugged cliff tops, peaceful bays and pretty fishing villages. With long sandy beaches and all the traditional seaside trimmings of yesteryear, this is proper bucket 'n spade territory. That's not to say it's stuck in the past, in fact the coast's villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, with trinket shops and tea rooms sitting alongside upmarket champagne and oyster bars.
