Situated set in the village of Holtby, a charming little village in the Yorkshire Wolds less than (6 miles) from central York. You have the best of both worlds here, the delightful small village atmosphere of old Yorkshire contrasting with the vibrant city of York. Holtby is an ideal base from which to explore all that this area has to offer. The gentle nature of the countryside here makes it an excellent location for walking and cycling so you can enjoy the rolling hills and dales of the region one day and get lost in the impressive city.

York is a must-see destination, there is even a bus stop just beside the house where you can hop on a direct bus to York every hour. This stunning medieval city is packed with independent shops, cafes and restaurants and offers some of the best sightseeing in the country. Wonder at York Minster’s beauty, explore around the cobbled streets, take a walk around the historic city walls or enjoy a drink at one of the pubs by the river. Its compact enough to see in a day, but you'll want to go back time and time again. Other highlights are the York Castle Museum, the National Railway Museum, a stroll along the River Ouse, York City Walls, the Yorvik Viking Centre, Clifford’s Tower, The Shambles (for curio shops) and the massive array of places to eat and drink. It’s a splendid city to walk around for a few days.

The Wolds are home to many historical homes and religious sites, as well as one of Yorkshire's largest lavender gardens. The Yorkshire Coast, North York Moors and Yorkshire Coast are also all within easy driving distance if you fancy somewhere further afield that also make for a great daytrip.

A lovely, comfortable and well equipped cottage in a lovely little village. A great location for exploring the area and for visiting York, especially using the convenient park and ride. We enjoyed warm evenings sitting in the pretty courtyard.

We had a fabulous time in Darcys Cottage. It was in a great location near to York, but within easy reach of many other attractions such as the coast, fabulous countryside walks and places of interest. The welcome pack, with homemade scones and homemade jam, was delicious and a real treat, and the file with visitor information was the best wed ever Read moreseen. It had lots of great ideas, and had information on areas off the beaten track, which we would never have found otherwise. Hide

Excellent facilities, excellent service. We are only unhappy because we had to cut our stay short. We would definitely recommend your cottages to everyone we know and hope to visit again in the near future.

Cosy well equipped & comfortable cottage A warm welcome from owners and on hand if any queries arise Good position for York as park and ride a few minutes away & great locators for exploring York moors around Whitby. Only downside is that stairs could be a problem for less mobile as quite steep & narrow

This cottage was delightful, and we had a lovely stay. Lovely welcome pack, and a pretty, cosy cottage with a log burner. Not far from York- we used the Park and Ride which saved battling with City parking and we enjoyed a number of day trips in Yorkshire as well.

A superb little cottage. Perfectly located for York (only 10mins away) and further afield, should you wish. The cottage was spotless on arrival, and the owner, Michelle, ensured a warm welcome and was always on hand if needed. Will certainly return for a second visit, and highly recommend to friends and family.

A very cosy, comfortable and well equipped base for visiting York. Just be aware that the stairs are very steep and narrow - we coped but others may find them a challenge. Friendly owners and a great location - happy to recommend!

Lovely cottage, immaculately clean. Perfect temperature in the bedroom (cool but not too cool) and a very comfortable bed meant a great night's sleep. Lovely countryside walks a few miles north, and very easy to get to York for the city break part of our holiday.

We had a wonderful relaxing week at Darcy's Cottage and would thoroughly recommend it. The area generally is very pretty and we found it very useful having a 'park and ride' bus stop on the main road which took us into York, saving us struggling to find a car park. When we arrived there was a welcome pack for us, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The beRead mored was very comfortable and the bathroom is HUGE!!! The sitting room is beautifully furnished, including TV, coffee table & large leather sofas. Hide
