Situated set in the village of Holtby, a charming little village in the Yorkshire Wolds less than (6 miles) from central York. You have the best of both worlds here, the delightful small village atmosphere of old Yorkshire contrasting with the vibrant city of York. Holtby is an ideal base from which to explore all that this area has to offer. The gentle nature of the countryside here makes it an excellent location for walking and cycling so you can enjoy the rolling hills and dales of the region one day and get lost in the impressive city.

York is a must-see destination, there is even a bus stop just beside the house where you can hop on a direct bus to York every hour. This stunning medieval city is packed with independent shops, cafes and restaurants and offers some of the best sightseeing in the country. Wonder at York Minster’s beauty, explore around the cobbled streets, take a walk around the historic city walls or enjoy a drink at one of the pubs by the river. Its compact enough to see in a day, but you'll want to go back time and time again. Other highlights are the York Castle Museum, the National Railway Museum, a stroll along the River Ouse, York City Walls, the Yorvik Viking Centre, Clifford’s Tower, The Shambles (for curio shops) and the massive array of places to eat and drink. It’s a splendid city to walk around for a few days.

The Wolds are home to many historical homes and religious sites, as well as one of Yorkshire's largest lavender gardens. The Yorkshire Coast, North York Moors and Yorkshire Coast are also all within easy driving distance if you fancy somewhere further afield that also make for a great daytrip.
