Uncover this stunning two-bedroom luxury holiday cottage tucked away in the vibrant market town of Settle. Dating back to the 19th century, this character stone building has been decorated and styled to create a beautiful and relaxing space for guests. With its fantastic location just a stone's throw from the town square, this gorgeous cottage is perfect for those who enjoy having pubs, cafes and shops within a short stroll of their holiday escape.

This handsome building was once home to Dugdales Agricultural Engineers and the original signage now takes pride of place on the kitchen wall. With its exposed beams, dramatic double height living space and upside-down layout, it's bursting with character and quality at every turn.

You enter the house via a small entrance porch complete with a church pew and coat rack, perfect if you need to leave muddy boots or coats from walking in the Dales. This opens out into that fabulous light-filled space which is home to a sleek contemporary kitchen and dining area next door while underfloor heating throughout downstairs keeps your toes toasty warm.

The shaker-style kitchen is the perfect backdrop to the clean and elegant ambiance in here. There's a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and ceramic hob for your convenience in addition to cupboards stocked with all the equipment needed to rustle up something good. You can choose to eat at the dining table or perch yourself at the breakfast bar, which also doubles up as a rather good spot for a pre-dinner glass of bubbly.

Make your way up the bespoke oak staircase to discover the beautiful and spacious sitting room. With a stunning wood burner at its heart and original beams overhead, retreating to this space is a real delight. For your entertainment there is a TV with Freeview and a DVD player. Wi-Fi is available and there's also a DAB radio and a selection of books and games.

There are two gorgeous bedrooms in Dugdales, both of which boast king-size beds, have en-suite shower facilities and have beds dressed in the finest crisp white bed linen. The first of the bedrooms is on ground level, a room with real wow-factor due to its floor-to-ceiling arched window which has venetian blinds as window coverings and handsome sleigh bed. The second bedroom is upstairs next to the sitting room, another charming room with a grown-up stylish appeal. Both bedrooms come equipped with TV/DVD players and hairdryers.

Outside the property there is a pleasant stone and cobbled patio area complete with outdoor furniture, a lovely little spot for lunch alfresco or an afternoon tipple. And of course, just a few steps down the path takes you out into Settle's much-loved market square.

Lockable storage for bicycles is available next to the cottage if you want to bring your two wheels along. Please Note: This property is accessed by a short, cobbled path. A 24-hour car park is located 50 meters away with week-long parking tickets available.

  • 2 king-size bedrooms

  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 1 dog allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week

This luxury accommodation is located in the heart of Settle, a well-loved and bustling market town home to lots of lovely cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. There's also a thriving market held in the town every Tuesday, the perfect place to pick up everything from flowers to dinner that night. If real ale is your thing, there are three fantastic real ale pubs set around the market place, so you can choose which one to try each evening!

Just outside of town you can hop on the Settle to Carlisle railway, one of the most scenic routes in the UK which will take you over the well-known Ribblehead Viaduct (12 miles). Beyond Settle you have the exquisite delights of the Yorkshire Dales. And as you would expect, the surrounding countryside here is simply magnificent, perfect if you want to strike out from the cottage in your walking boots or on your bicycle.

It's a true walker's paradise here but if you're more of a roamer than a rambler, try a stroll around the grounds of nearby Bolton Abbey (17 miles). These gorgeous ruins provide the backdrop to a particularly beautiful part of the Dales and are well worth a visit.

There are a host of other attractions all within easy reach of Dugdales including Malham Cove (25 miles), Malham Tarn (26 miles) and the vibrant town of Skipton (21 miles).

We enjoyed our week at Dugdale Barn. It's spacious, well equipped, warm and centrally located. The 2 bedrooms were nice and showers good. The owners had left wine, bread, biscuits and milk, which was a nice touch. There are no toiletries in the showers. Parking is an issue but there's a carpark nearby. Nevertheless, a nice house.

The cottage is very well located in the centre of Settle with all its facilities and Booths supermarket is only 5 mins walk away. It is well equipped and comfortable and has the luxury of two en suites. The limestone scenery of Malham , the caves, waterfalls and numerous walks are very close by car. We had a very enjoyable week.

Lovely cottage, so close to the centre of town yet also so quiet. A great base for the town and local area with easily parking close by (the nearby car park also has a couple of electric car chargers which we made good use of). The log burner in the comfy mezzanine lounge was a great place to retreat to after a days exploring.
