  • Charming sandstone cottage sleeping 4 +1 across 2 bedrooms with plenty of space to host 2 canine companions alongside the family
  • Located in a tucked away position within the heart of the fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay with the convenience of welcoming village pubs and independent shops within walking distance
  • Take a trip along the coast to visit the gorgeously gothic town of Whitby or don your walking shoes to enjoy endless walks along the dramatic cliff tops and rugged coastlines
Property code: OC-G0085

This exquisite 3-storey, 2-bedroom sandstone cottage is tucked away down a crooked cobbled street in the heart of Robin Hood's Bay: one of the prettiest and most-loved villages on the Yorkshire coast.

Inside you'll find a bright and welcoming holiday home you'll instantly fall in love with. Chic cheerful interiors bring a smile to your face from the moment you walk in, and the village and sea views from the top floor across the rooftops are breathtaking, making this the perfect romantic little seaside hideaway for couples and small families alike.

Downstairs is home to a generous living room boasting exposed original floorboards and a cosy wood burner set on a quarry tile hearth. Sunlight streams through the elegant Georgian sash windows bathing this room in warmth and light. Grab a glossy mag, light the fire and snuggle up on one of two comfy sofas for the afternoon. For your evening entertainment you'll find a 32"" TV with Freeview, a DVD player, Blue tooth speaker and there's also Wi-Fi included if you want to catch up online.

Make your way up some steps into the gorgeous kitchen. This colourful room features beautiful handmade brick floor tiles, units in cardroom green and wood panelling on the walls. Bright seating gives the whole thing a playful, happy feel. You'll find all the usual mod cons including a dishwasher, fridge with ice-box, gas hob, electric oven and microwave. A stable door leads to the most delightful little courtyard and allows you to open the top and let the outside in during the summer months.

Both bedrooms are set upstairs – please be careful as the stairs are a little steep and winding. The first lovely double bedroom can be found on the first floor featuring a handsome cream double bed with warm wooden floors underfoot. This room looks out towards the village with the sea beyond. Next door is the house bathroom, another cheerful room with a fabulous claw-foot free-standing bath and shower overhead. Sage green tiles on the walls compliment the Victorian style black & white tiles on the floor.

The second bedroom is on the top floor. Make your way up wooden steps with a rope bannister (also steep) to discover a further double room. The views from this room are amazing, and well worth the climb up! There's a day bed in here too making it just the place to escape to with a good book; the wildlife on the walls will also remind you of your seaside location.

Make your way back downstairs and through the kitchen into the pleasant little cobbled courtyard. Something of a rarity in the lower bay, this pretty cottage enjoys its own private outdoor space. Garden furniture means you can lunch alfresco and it's also the perfect spot for that afternoon G & T.

Parking can be found at Bank Top or Station public car parks, charges apply - please the Need to Know section

Weve stayed here before and would stay again Excellent cottage for four at bottom end of bay quietly tucked away in sunny position, so good access to beach and shop, eating out . We loved being able to sit outside for drink/ breakfast ,and enjoy cooking / eating in the kitchen.

Wonderful cottages located at the heart of the village. You get a real sense of the place and the house is full of character. We chose the house partly because it came with a free parking permit for a nearby car park. This wasnt made available to us which was inconvenient as we had to park on the public car parks at the top of the bank.

Really enjoyed our stay at Lenwood. Comfortable, clean and in a lovely quiet area in lower bay. Refreshing to stay somewhere where our dogs are fully welcomed! The kitchen had everything we needed and it was good to have an extra door to the outside space - I'm sure the stable door in the kitchen would be perfect in warmer months. Upstairs to the fRead moreirst floor, the bathroom is well appointed with a bath with rainfall shower over. The double bedroom (the room we used) on this floor has partial sea views and a comfy bed & furnishings. Up to the top floor is another double room with day bed and sea views. Plenty of walks to discover from the doorstep and lovely independent shops, cafes and pubs. Fabulous pizzas at the Smugglers (a few people were also ordering to take away), brekkie at Tea Toast & Post (get there when it opens as it gets busy!) and well cooked meals at the Bay Hotel. Highly recommend the Ghost Walk too - always good to hear some history of where you stay. Lovely relaxing break - thank you. Hide

The location was superb and we received a lovely welcome pack on our arrival. However, our experience did not match the reviews we read when deciding to book this cottage, the disappointing things were the cleanliness of the property and provision of kitchen utensils. We have emailed Holiday Cottages with our detailed feedback.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful area and the welcome pack was greatly appreciated unfortunately for us it was too challenging getting luggage from the car to the cottage we are in our 70s so just too many steps stairs and hills but this goes not detract from me recommending this to other people who I know would love it.
