Property code: G0085

Exquisite three-storey sandstone cottage tucked away in the heart of the fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay; one of Yorkshires prettiest villages in prime position to explore the rugged coastlines.

This exquisite 3-storey, 2-bedroom sandstone cottage is tucked away down a crooked cobbled street in the heart of Robin Hood's Bay: one of the prettiest and most-loved villages on the Yorkshire coast.

Inside you'll find a bright and welcoming holiday home you'll instantly fall in love with. Chic cheerful interiors bring a smile to your face from the moment you walk in, and the village and sea views from the top floor across the rooftops are breathtaking, making this the perfect romantic little seaside hideaway for couples and small families alike.

Downstairs is home to a generous living room boasting exposed original floorboards and a cosy wood burner set on a quarry tile hearth. Sunlight streams through the elegant Georgian sash windows bathing this room in warmth and light. Grab a glossy mag, light the fire and snuggle up on one of two comfy sofas for the afternoon. For your evening entertainment you'll find a 32"" TV with Freeview, a DVD player, Blue tooth speaker and there's also Wi-Fi included if you want to catch up online.

Make your way up some steps into the gorgeous kitchen. This colourful room features beautiful handmade brick floor tiles, units in cardroom green and wood panelling on the walls. Bright seating gives the whole thing a playful, happy feel. You'll find all the usual mod cons including a dishwasher, fridge with ice-box, gas hob, electric oven and microwave. A stable door leads to the most delightful little courtyard and allows you to open the top and let the outside in during the summer months.

Both bedrooms are set upstairs – please be careful as the stairs are a little steep and winding. The first lovely double bedroom can be found on the first floor featuring a handsome cream double bed with warm wooden floors underfoot. This room looks out towards the village with the sea beyond. Next door is the house bathroom, another cheerful room with a fabulous claw-foot free-standing bath and shower overhead. Sage green tiles on the walls compliment the Victorian style black & white tiles on the floor.

The second bedroom is on the top floor. Make your way up wooden steps with a rope bannister (also steep) to discover a further double room. The views from this room are amazing, and well worth the climb up! There's a day bed in here too making it just the place to escape to with a good book; the wildlife on the walls will also remind you of your seaside location.

Make your way back downstairs and through the kitchen into the pleasant little cobbled courtyard. Something of a rarity in the lower bay, this pretty cottage enjoys its own private outdoor space. Garden furniture means you can lunch alfresco and it's also the perfect spot for that afternoon G & T.

This lovely accommodation also has the luxury of a parking permit for the private car park in the lower bay - another huge plus for a property in the village, particularly in the busy summer months.

  • 2 double bedrooms
  • 1 family bathroom with free-standing bath, overhead shower and WC
  • Hob, oven, microwave, fridge, icebox
  • Outside seating area and garden
  • Traditional wood burner - logs, kindling and coal are provided
  • Electric and heating included
  • Parking - please note there is no parking at the property but the owners provide a private parking permit for the nearby car park. Please note this cannot accommodate for vehicles larger than a Range Rover.
  • LCD TV and DVD player
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Pubs and shops within half a mile
  • Children welcome but must be supervised at all times due to the steep stairs and low window sills on the sash windows
  • Please note, as with most properties in Robin Hood's Bay, the stairs are steep and winding in places
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 15:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week

The location of this property is fantastic. Set in the heart of Robin Hood’s Bay, all of the village's tea-rooms and shops and pubs are just metres away, and you can be walking on the beach with sand between your toes within minutes from the front door.

Robin Hood’s Bay is one of the most popular coastal locations in Yorkshire, or the UK for that matter. Once home to the busiest smuggling trade on the Yorkshire coast - said to involve fisherman, clergy and gentry alike - today the village has adopted a much more sedate pace of life. The village is a maze of cobbled streets and higgledy-piggledy houses which seem to tumble down towards the sea. Walkers can delight in the fact that Wainwright's famous Coast to Coast walk starts (or finishes depending which way you look at it) just a few yards from the door. And the Bay itself is just one of the charming locations on the coast.

For dinner there are a variety of lovely options from romantic bistros, to nautically themed Inns which have a delightful evening atmosphere set with candlelight. There are also several good pubs in the village with great pub grub. If you want to dine in, take advantage of the well-stocked local stores there, including an excellent fish mongers selling the freshest locally caught crab. The kids will love the traditional sweet shops and there are several gorgeous little boutiques selling all manner of delightful things.

As hard as it will be to drag yourself away from Robin Hood’s Bay, you really ought to explore the rest of the coast. Much like its Cornish counterpart, the Yorkshire coastline is a heady mix of rugged cliff tops, peaceful bays and pretty fishing villages. With long sandy beaches and all the traditional seaside trimmings of yesteryear, this is proper bucket 'n' spade territory. That's not to say it's stuck in the past, in fact the coast's villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly with trinket shops and tea rooms sitting alongside upmarket champagne and oyster bars.

This region is best known for the gorgeously gothic town of Whitby. Playing host at one time to Romans, Saxons, Celts and Danes amongst others, the town's rich heritage is immediately obvious. Straddling the river Esk and dominated by the 13th century ruins of St Hilda's Abbey on the East Cliff, Whitby's crooked cobbled streets and picturesque harbour have been a magnet for artists and tourists alike for centuries. Providing the backdrop for some of Lewis Carroll's work, it was also famously the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula. For a real sense of the town's atmospheric ambience, climb the 199 abbey steps at dusk and wander around St. Mary's churchyard on the headland. You can further indulge a desire for the macabre on one of the regular ghost walks from Whale Bone Arch on West Cliff.

Although you could happily spend a day or two mooching about the independent shops, bars and cafes along Whitby's bustling medieval streets, it's well worth striking out to sample some of the other less known coastal villages nearby. Sandsend, (5.5 miles) Staithes (15.5 miles) and Runswick Bay, just 13.5 miles away are all within easy driving distance, and each have their own unique charm.
