Charming cottage within the bustling market town of Middleham offering a fabulous blend of town and countryside living with plenty of the Yorkshire Dales' most popular attractions within easy reach.

This attractive stone-built cottage is tucked away in Middleham, one of Yorkshire's prettiest towns. Bursting with period character inside and out, it's just the place for a relaxing break. Set behind the market square, this cosy abode is the perfect base from which to explore the stunning Wensleydale countryside. Strike out for a walk from the doorstep and be welcomed home by a roaring open fire each evening. A little slice of Yorkshire holiday heaven.

Inside, you'll find a small entrance hall to hang up coats and pull off muddy walking boots. This leads into the spacious and light-filled lounge with wooden floorboards underfoot. Once the fire is roaring, take your pick from three comfy armchairs or a sofa to snuggle up on. For your evening entertainment, there's a Smart TV with DVD and Wi-Fi is also provided if you need to catch up online.

Make your way to the rear of the cottage to discover a generous and bright kitchen/dining room. This stylish and contemporary space is a pleasure to cook and dine in. You'll find elegant shaker-style units well-stocked with all the usual equipment and utensils. Pick up some fresh Yorkshire produce from the excellent local deli in Leyburn and rustle up a hearty cooked breakfast, such a pleasure when there's nowhere you need to be. You'll find all the usual mod-cons including an oven with ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine and microwave. Coffee lovers will also appreciate the Nespresso coffee machine. The dining table sits by the back door and offers views out to the terrace garden.

There are two delightful bedrooms, both located on the first floor. The peaceful master bedroom sits at the front of the cottage and boasts a super-king-size bed. This bed can also be configured as two full-size singles if preferred. This room comes complete with a handy en-suite shower with a Mira Platinum digital shower. The second bedroom is tucked away to the rear of the property and is set up as a twin, however, it can also offer a super king-size bed if preferred. Exposed original beams overhead lend period warmth to this lovely room. Just mind your head if you have this room set up as a super-king! The family bathroom is also on the first floor. For those of you who love a good hot soak at the end of a busy day, you'll enjoy finding a bath in here.

Outside, there is a pleasant terraced rear courtyard garden with partial views across the Wensleydale countryside. Patio furniture and a gas BBQ are provided so you can take full advantage of the warm summer evenings. There's also a cushioned bench made for those evening sundowners. It's completely enclosed if you have a dog with you and an outside tap allows you to wash them down (or your muddy walking boots). There is normally roadside parking available immediately outside the cottage, and further free parking just 200 yards away in the market square.

  • 1 king-size bedroom and 1 twin bedroom (can be configured as a super-king upon request but please mind your head as there are low beams)
  • 1 en-suite shower room, 1 family bathroom with bath and WC
  • Hob, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine
  • Enclosed garden with seating area
  • Traditional wood burner
  • Electric and heating included
  • Smart TV
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Bluetooth speaker
  • Pub and shops within half a mile
  • BBQ available
  • DVD player
  • Parking - there is normally on-road parking available immediately outside the cottage, and further free parking just 200 yards away in the market square
  • Children are welcome but please bring your own travel cot and highchair
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details

The cottage is set just behind Middleham’s market square in Wensleydale, one of Yorkshire's loveliest towns. Famous for its castle (once home to Richard III) it's also home to several racehorse trainers; you will see and hear the horses being led through the village up to the gallops every day. And to top it off, there is a great selection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops.

Near the property is a charming tearoom if you fancy a treat at elevenses, and for dinner, you can opt for pub grub at one of the friendly inns or try one of the charming restaurants. There's also a village store and a couple of bric-a-brac shops to mooch around. Just 2.5 miles out of the village is the fantastic attraction, The Forbidden Corner. Regularly voted the best family attraction in Yorkshire, it's well worth a look even if there are no children in your party.

In the opposite direction, you'll find the bustling town of Leyburn, an archetypical slice of Dales market town life. You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain.

There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of the cottage. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are both under 9 miles away and the picturesque villages of Richmond, West Burton and Askrigg are all within 13.5 miles, so lots of choice for things to do if you want to get out and about. If walking is your thing, the Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise. And there are plenty of options for cycling too in Tour De France country.

Lovely stay in Little Windor. The cottage is very pretty, very clean, with a beautiful lounge, fabulous kitchen, and a very comfy master bedroom. The village is very pretty especially with the church & castle, although its very quiet. We had a lovely welcome pack & our wee dog was very well catered for. Highly recommended!

We have stayed in this lovely cottage three times now and it really feels like a home from home. It is extremely comfortable and well equipped. The welcome pack was good and included some local Wensleydale cheese. It is well situated for some lovely walks and we enjoyed the food and atmosphere in the local pubs.
