Truly charming home from home complete with hot tub, perfect to host special family get-togethers. In an enviable location within the picturesque Howardian Hills, with the North York Moors in easy reach.

This charming family holiday home is conveniently located just north of York. Perfect for special get-togethers and celebrations, this stunning property lists beautiful interiors, heaps of space and a large enclosed garden with a wood-fired hot tub among its many charms.

Every inch of this property has been given the luxury treatment, without detracting from the inherent character. Step in to find a large elegant entrance hall with a traditional stone flagged floor, just the place to leave boots and coats after a hike across the North York Moors.

This leads you to the spacious living room, a comfortable and welcoming space for the whole family with its warm oak flooring, exposed beams and wood burning stove. There's a Smart TV with DVD in here and Wi-Fi is provided too. Light up the fire, grab some nibbles and settle down to a family movie. If the kids want their own space, there's a separate snug room with another large TV and pool table to keep them entertained.

Take a left from the entrance hall to discover a generous kitchen boasting stone floors, elegant units, a Belfast sink and a solid granite worktop. A large range cooker sits comfortably in an alcove just waiting for you to rustle up a hearty family meal. The cupboards are well stocked with essentials and there's a large American-style fridge/freezer to store all your goodies. The dining room sits next door, another light-filled room with oak flooring and patio doors leading out into the garden. A very pleasant space to dine in with room to seat everyone comfortably.

All of the bedrooms in the cottage are upstairs. The first is set on the same side as the snug and boasts its own private staircase. This lovely room features a super king-size zip-and-link bed which can be configured as two full-size singles if preferred. It also has an en-suite shower room, so you're perfectly contained in your own little private apartment within the house.

The remaining bedrooms are accessed via another staircase from the living room. Here, you'll find the master bedroom, with a comfy king-size bed and en-suite shower room. The third bedroom is a cosy double room which shares the family bathroom with the final bedroom. The last bedroom is found at the end of the landing, another spacious character-filled room with exposed oak beams and a super king-size bed.

The main bathroom has serious ‘wow' factor with its enormous free-standing bath and separate walk-in shower. It's the sort of bathroom you would quite happily spend an entire evening in with some candles and bubble bath for company.

And if you love the interiors of this large luxury Yorkshire cottage, you'll be delighted to discover the gardens are also pretty special. Step outside into a large and enclosed rear garden, complete with lots of comfortable outdoor furniture and of course, that wood-fired hot tub. What better way to end each day than a dip in the tub followed by a night-cap as the sun sets over the garden. Little ones will love the fact they have a large lawned area to run around on and you even have your own mini orchard to enjoy.

  • 4 bedrooms: 1 super king-size, 1 king-size, 1 double and 1 super-king (can be configured as twins)
  • 2 en-suite shower room with WCs and 1 family bathroom with WC
  • Range cooker, gas hob, electric oven x 2, microwave, large fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and Nespresso Coffee machine

The cottage is located around 18 miles north of York in Leavening. This sleepy little village is well placed if you want to nip into York for some sightseeing or shopping and be close to the North York Moors for bracing country walks. And if you fancy a pint or dinner out one night, there's a lovely pub in the village which serves excellent pub grub, with lots of fantastic gastro pubs in the area too.

Leavening is set in the rolling Howardian Hills in the southern reaches of the North York Moors. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, the lush pastures and woodlands of the southern moors play host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market towns. The landscape is particularly well-suited to cyclists and walkers with miles of stunning off-road walks and cycle paths in every direction. Nearby Kirkham Abbey, in particular, has some lovely walks along the River Derwent and you can stop for lunch at the local pub. And you also have the Wolds Way nearby to explore.

Castle Howard (18 miles) is an absolute must during your stay. The wonderful series Brideshead Revisited, and now lavish film production was filmed on location here. This quintessentially English tale of forbidden love and loss of innocence set pre WWII, has the perfect backdrop in this magnificent house and gardens.

The handsome town of Malton is also just a few miles away, a destination fast becoming known for its excellent food and drink - home to the renowned Food Lovers Festival as well as fantastic restaurants, an excellent selection of food shops and great food and drink producers. There is a regular livestock market, a traditional market every Saturday and a new Food Lovers Market. The town is filled with charming independent shops as well as some high street favourites. It also has a small family-owned cinema.

A few miles further will take you to the town of Pickering. You can catch a steam train from here taking you all the way to Whitby via some picture-postcard villages and stunning scenery. Pickering itself makes for a relaxing afternoon's mosey with its pretty houses, shops and tearooms.

The beautiful market town of Helmsley is also close by and is well worth a visit. If you fancy a little pampering, you'll find a fantastic day spa here; the Verbena Spa. There is a theme park and zoo at Flamingo Land (8 miles) and Eden Camp, a fascinating modern history museum, is 2 miles away. And of course, York itself is just 18 miles away. Explore its maze of cobbled streets, gaze in wonder at the York Minster and indulge with a Fat Rascal at Bettys Tearooms. And with the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Coast all within close reach, there are countless options for day trips.
