The property is set within open countryside on the outskirts of Newton-le-Willows, a pretty little village in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Equidistant from the Yorkshire market towns of Bedale and Leyburn, the village itself is charming and there is a welcoming tearoom with great views within walking distance from the cottage.

Beyond the village, the attractive town of Bedale is worth a visit. Stop for a coffee before making your way around the town's antique shops. In the opposite direction, you'll find the charming market town of Leyburn. Leyburn is an archetypical slice of Dales market town life. You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain.

Nearby you'll also find the historic town of Richmond and Masham, a thriving market town where handsome Georgian buildings gather around a cobbled square. The square is one of the largest and finest in England famous for its sheep sale where in the past as many as 70,000 sheep were sold here every year. The popular Masham Sheep Fair is held in September each year and commemorates these times.

There are lots of delights to discover in the town including an excellent fine dining restaurant, a host of lovely cafes, a top-notch wine shop and several very good butchers. And if you enjoy a tipple or two, it's also home to two award-winning breweries, Theakstons and Black Sheep. Both have visitor centres where you can take brewery tours, sample their ales, enjoy excellent food and perhaps take a few bottles home for later too.

There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of the property. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are both under 18 miles away and the attractive villages of West Burton and Askrigg are within 23 miles, so lots of choices for things to do if you want to get out and about. If walking is your thing, the Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise. And there are plenty of options for cycling too in Tour De France country.

A beautifully appointed cottage with everything you need for a hassle free holiday. Very quiet location, but a small town nearby for groceries etc. lovely welcome pack with eggs, milk, locally made jam, marmalade and cake. Cottage very clean and has cooker, microwave, fridge, small freezer compartment in fridge and dishwasher. Large bedroom with viRead moreews over the countryside, certainly a great place to get away from it all. Hide

A lovely cottage in beautiful countryside. Very comfortable and ideal for the dog. The garden was dog proof and great to have a table and chairs outside. An ideal base to travel around the sights of North Yorkshire. Great to have the welcome basket and very useful to have the recommendations of where to eat. The owners have thought of everything.

This house is tucked away and private, even though there are more properties around. Lovely setting. In the vicinity there are lovely walks in all directions. A huge and comfortable bed makes for good sleeping after a lovely meal made in the well equipped kitchen.

Wasn't aware the cottage only had a small fridge with ice box, we took most of our food for our weeks stay and ended up throwing a lot of it out. The cottage is in a gorgeous location with lots to visit round about. It's clean and tidy and very cozy. If your planning to watch any TV your limited to what channels you can get.

It was ok, nothing special and not as clean as expected. Owner was very appologetic and sorted things efficently. However my first opinion of the property did not improve. Plesent enough but nothing special. We would not return. Its sad that his cleaning service affected our opinion of the property. He was very nice.
