Cosy home from home tucked away in a pretty little hamlet offering a best or both worlds' getaway to the countryside, sitting within easy reach of the medieval city of York and lovely market towns.

Indulge in a cosy and romantic bolthole, tucked away in a pretty little village just north of York. Enjoy the best of both worlds with an idyllic rural setting, but the cosmopolitan delights of this medieval city, 13.5 miles away. And in the other direction, discover the cosmopolitan delights of Harrogate, 14 miles away. The perfect country escape for couples and small families who like to keep one foot on urban ground.

Looking across to the village church in a peaceful private setting, the cottage boasts a handsome exterior with Smart red brick and white sash windows. It's just the place to squirrel yourself away for a few days with those you love best. Step inside to discover delightful, bright interiors with surprisingly spacious accommodation.

Downstairs there's a small hallway home to a handy downstairs cloakroom. Make your way on through, with deliciously soft carpet underfoot, to discover the living room. At its heart is a cosy open fire set within a feature exposed brick fireplace. Grab a good book and take your pick from two comfy sofas to curl up on for the afternoon. If you enjoy settling down to a firelit movie, you'll find a Smart TV complete with DVD. Wi-Fi is also provided if you need to catch up online. The room has a bright and peaceful feel about it with natural light from two sash windows.

The kitchen/diner is set on the right of the entrance hall, a large room with lots of space to enjoy. The kitchen includes an oven and hob, dishwasher and fridge freezer. There's a generous shabby chic dining table sat by the window, the perfect spot to spread out the morning papers for a long lazy breakfast.

Both bedrooms are set upstairs on the first floor and are again of good proportions. The master bedroom is bathed in light from a large Velux window and features a king-size bed to retreat to each evening. Dressed in crisp cotton bedding with a luxurious throw and cushions, it's an inviting and comfortable bed. The second bedroom is set directly across, this time there's a super king-size bed which can also be configured as two singles if requested. Plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their own space. Please contact the owner directly to confirm how you would like the beds to be configured if different from the standard set up.

The family bathroom is also upstairs. Continuing with the bright feel, this immaculate bathroom has glazed brick-style tiles and a bath with shower overhead. Indulge with a long hot soak after a day's shopping in York.

Outside, you'll discover gravelled and paved areas which wrap around the private exterior of the property. A patio table and chairs are provided so you can take advantage of those lovely views across to the church. There's off-road parking available for up to two cars.

The cottage is set in Little Ouseburn, a sleepy hamlet just 13.5 miles from central York. There's a village pub within walking distance and the neighbouring village of Great Ouseburn has a Post Office and village shop. This area of the North York Moors is known as the Howardian Hills. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, the lush pastures and woodlands of the southern moors play host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market towns. The landscape is particularly well-suited to cyclists and walkers.

Take the short drive into York to explore this gem of a medieval city. Walk the historic walls, take a boat trip along the river or indulge in tea and cake at Betty's Tearooms. And if you have time, have a wander around its many independent shops and boutiques. In the opposite direction, the Victorian spa town of Harrogate is also within easy reach (14 miles). Take a turn around the antique shops in the Montpellier Quarter, stop for lunch at one of its many eateries, and mooch about the stunning gardens at RHS Harlow Carr. The fantastic family-attraction, Stockheld Park, is also just 15 miles away.

Castle Howard (13 miles) is an absolute must during your stay. The wonderful series Brideshead Revisited, and now lavish film production was filmed on location here. This quintessentially English tale of forbidden love and loss of innocence set pre-WWII has the perfect backdrop in this magnificent house and gardens. And when you have soaked in all this glamour make a stop at the fantastic farm shop on the way home to pick up the finest Yorkshire produce for dinner.

If you're a bit of a foodie, there are several fantastic places near the cottage to try, in fact, two restaurants with Michelin stars are within half an hour's drive. Plus, York and Harrogate are brimming with excellent eateries at every turn.
