Escape to the seaside in this contemporary holiday home, set 300 yards from a sweeping beach down a coastal cliff path. Bright, stylish decor and a fabulous location make this the perfect choice for couples and small families looking for somewhere special to stay along Yorkshire's Heritage Coast. With its nautical feel, this coastal retreat features immaculate interiors in shades of white and blue, reminding you of your seaside location.

Inside, you'll find all the accommodation on ground level. Enter the cottage via a spacious porch complete with a bench and shoe rack - a handy space to take off those sandy shoes and jackets. Make your way through to a generous living room bathed in light from shuttered double windows to the side. Underfoot you'll find solid oak flooring giving the room a real warmth and there's also a cosy wood burner to snuggle up beside too.

You have the choice of a large comfy sofa to stretch out on or handsome easy chairs. Settle down with a cuppa and that book you've been meaning to read for ages, it's time to unwind. Or use binoculars to watch the passing ships. For your entertainment, there's a large Smart TV with DVD. Wi-Fi is provided and there's a Blue-tooth speaker so you can play your own music.

The beautiful oak flooring continues into the kitchen/dining room at the rear of the cottage. Another light-filled room with an elegant contemporary style. The glossy kitchen units come well-equipped with everything you'll need. Indulge with some freshly caught seafood from a local fishmonger (there are several excellent ones in Bridlington) or the fishermen at Flamborough and rustle up something delicious for dinner. The kitchen has all the usual mod cons including a dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer.

The stylish dining table and chairs sit in front of patio doors leading out into the back garden. It's a lovely spot to enjoy a long lazy breakfast over the morning papers. Or challenge someone to an afternoon of board games over a glass of wine.

There are two bedrooms, both of which have soft carpets underfoot. The master bedroom boasts a king-size bed dressed in crisp cotton bedding. There's another Smart TV in here so you can catch up on your soaps in your pyjamas. Wake up each morning, throw open your curtains and enjoy the view. This stylish bedroom looks out to the front directly across to Flamborough Head Lighthouse and the sea beyond. The second bedroom features two full-size single beds and another wall-mounted TV. The family bathroom sits next door, it has a bath and separate walk-in shower with chic floor tiles.

Outside the cottage, you have the choice of a beachy front garden complete with pebbles and rope swags or a large lawned garden to the rear. Catch the sun rising each morning on the front bench and in the afternoon, throw out a picnic blanket and take advantage of the evening sun to the rear. Patio furniture and a Weber charcoal BBQ are provided.

The cottage has a stunning location right by the lighthouse at the top of Flamborough Head. The property faces east out to sea so you can enjoy watching the sun rising each morning. The Lighthouse offers seasonal tours, and it's well worth climbing the steps to the top. There's a great cafe within half a mile which offers delicious all-day breakfasts. There's also a cafe/bistro under the lighthouse - both have incredible sea-views.

The coastal path runs past the lighthouse offering breathtaking walks along the cliffs. Just a hundred yards away from the cottage you'll find a cliff path that takes you down to a fantastic beach surrounded by white cliffs with amazing rock pools waiting to be explored.

Flamborough village is just a few miles away. It's a charming little place with white-washed cottages, a Grade II listed Norman Church and a castle to explore. The village has a Viking heritage - the Flamborough Fire Festival is a Viking themed parade, held on New Year's Eve. It starts in the centre of the village and features the Flamborough Fireballs, Torches, Battle of Flamborough led by King Canute and Viking Longship which is pulled through the village streets by Viking warriors. The parade finishes with a Fireworks Spectacular held at midnight to celebrate the New Year. Like the Obby Oss tradition in Cornwall, it is an ancient and local spectacular not to be missed in the dark days of winter.

Part of the Yorkshire Heritage Coast, Flamborough Head is best known for its towering cliffs which are home to the largest colony of seabirds in the UK, and one of the largest in the whole of Europe. People come from all over the world to birdwatch here, with eider ducks, oystercatchers, gulls and cormorants among the many breeds on show. Nearby Bempton Cliffs are teeming with birds and are one of the best places in the UK to watch puffins.

This area of the Yorkshire coast is also home to an abundance of sea life and it’s possible to spot seals basking on the shorelines and whales swimming off-shore. How about a spot of sea kayaking or a boat trip around the headland to get up-close? If you're a wildlife enthusiast, it's pure heaven! The Living Seas Visitor Centre (run by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust) is at South Landing, under 5 miles from the cottage. They organise nature trips for adults and children which are great fun for the whole family.

There are also several very family-friendly sandy beaches within easy reach. The idyllic beaches of North and South Landing are perfect for little ones to splash around in the sea and discover mini beasts lurking in the rockpools. The beaches here are also great for a spot of fossil hunting too. And if all that sounds a little too energetic, how about just throwing down a blanket for an afternoon picnic?

There are lots of great seaside resorts to visit nearby, including world-famous Scarborough (17 miles). Make your way up through the historic streets to explore Scarborough Castle, or pop into St Mary's churchyard to visit Ann Bronte's grave. Enjoy a stroll around the South Cliff area taking in the famous Spa and Italian Gardens. Catch the cliff lift down to the beach and walk around to the peaceful North Bay, visit the renowned Sea Life Centre or explore the beautiful Peasholm Park with its boating lake, woodland walks and oriental influences.

The cottage’s position means you are also perfectly placed to take in the best of the Wolds and North York Moors. This dramatic landscape of heather and open moorland is just a short drive away. And with lots of attractions like Sewerby Hall and Gardens (3 miles) and Burton Agnes (6 miles) within easy reach, there are lots of choices for day trips.
