Perfect for year-round family breaks, this home-from-home is a cosy and welcoming base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales and its historic market towns.

This charming two-bedroom holiday home which sleeps four is situated in an idyllic village just north of Richmond. There is much to love about this luxury cottage, with its elegant styling, sheltered courtyard garden and open fire. It can be summed up in one word, ‘class'. It oozes the word from every room, from the neutral hues of the sitting room to the original art and striking colour pallet in the bathroom. The owner has created a stylish, and most importantly, very comfortable little cottage.

Step into the formal entrance hall and on into the living area of the cottage. The sitting room features a beautiful stone open fire, a formal dining area set by the window and a comfortable sofa to settle down on each evening. The room is tastefully decorated and offers a quiet sense of luxury. There is also a Smart TV with DVD, MP3 docking station and Wi-Fi to keep you entertained in here. Carry on through the French doors into the bright and elegant kitchen. This space includes a less formal dining area, great for breakfast or your morning coffee. Throw open the patio doors to the garden and enjoy the sound of birdsong to accompany your meals. The kitchen includes all of the essentials you could wish for; a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave etc. And if you enjoy a spot of cooking on holiday, you will want for nothing in this kitchen.

The property is organised over a single floor and so take a wander up the corridor to the family bathroom. You'll find a separate walk-in shower here in addition to a bath: perfect if you feel like a long hot soak after a day's walking in the Dales. There are also two bedrooms in the cottage. The first is a twin room with traditional bed throws and cosy cottage style. The second master bedroom enjoys direct access to the courtyard garden through patio doors allowing light to fill the room - what better way to start the morning than throwing open the doors and letting in all that fresh air? Both bedrooms have views out onto the garden and pretty church grounds beyond, and both have their own TVs which is ideal if you feel like a lazy morning in bed.

To the rear of the cottage, you can enjoy sitting in the private and peaceful courtyard garden complete with outside furniture. The views towards the church and the Yorkshire Dales beyond are just beautiful, and because this is such a sheltered area, it's the perfect place to indulge in a spot of al fresco dining. The cottage is the perfect luxury holiday home for couples and young families looking for an elegant and tasteful stay. It also welcomes two four-legged canine companions too so there's no need for any of the family to miss out!

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 double and 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom with walk-in shower
  • Oven hob, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Freeview TV, DVD and MP3 docking station
  • Garden with furniture and BBQ
  • Travel cot and highchair
  • Pub and shop within 3 miles
  • Roadside parking
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week

The property has a great location, set at the northern tip of the Yorkshire Dales, and with less than an hour's drive to the coast and the city of York (55 miles), it's an ideal basecamp from which to strike out and discover these unique Yorkshire locations. Situated in the picturesque and peaceful village of Hutton Magna which is surrounded by open countryside, it's a relaxing and calming spot to hide away in for a while. And if you're a bit of a foodie, there are several excellent dining pubs in the area.

The cottage is just 11 miles away from Richmond, a historic market town with much to offer the discerning holidaymaker. Explore the cobbled market square or head up towards Richmond Castle for a slice of Yorkshire history. Just a short drive through Richmond takes you into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Head up towards Reeth and on towards Hawes in Wensleydale for a true taste of this magnificent countryside.

Further south, you'll find the pretty market town of Northallerton (26.5 miles) where handsome Georgian houses line the long main street and the wonderful Betty’s Tearooms can be found. To take in the North York Moors, head further south still and brave it up Sutton Bank, the view from the top said by some to be the finest in all of England. The gorgeous market town of Helmsley makes for the perfect pit-stop for a spot of lunch.

Pretty, comfortable cottage, very well equiped and easily accessable off the A66. Tastely decorated for our Christmas stay and plenty of nice treats. Very friendly neighbours in the village. Would highly recommend Rokerby Cottage.

Clean cottage but some things needed attention such as garden furniture and mould in bathroom. Lovely location but if you want complete peace and quiet then bear in mind there are children next door!
