Set in the idyllic market town of Helmsley at the foot of the North York Moors National Park, this beautiful three-bedroom townhouse boasts spacious accommodation over three floors. With the town's charms just a stone's throw away, this is the perfect holiday home for those who enjoy everything on the doorstep, with stunning countryside within walking distance too.

Tucked away just behind the market square in this chocolate-box town, the property is a stylish and contemporary holiday home offering three spacious bedrooms (each one with a private shower or bathroom) and elegant, comfortable living areas. Step inside the handsome sandstone exterior to find a property which has been immaculately presented.

On the ground level, you'll find the large inviting living room, complete with a cosy multi-fuel stove to curl up beside. Warm oak flooring is underfoot, and you have the choice of two comfy sofas and a chair to stretch out on. A Smart TV with DVD is provided for those family movie nights, and Wi-Fi is included too. Music is provided with a radio CD player and you can play your favourite tunes on the iPod docking station.

The ground floor is also home to the bright and welcoming kitchen/diner. Set at the rear of the property, the kitchen features striking dark units, a sleek granite worktop and a kitchen island, making it a lovely space to cook and entertain. All mod cons are provided including a dishwasher, double oven and fridge/freezer. The dining table sits by the window and offers a light-filled space for those noisy family breakfasts or memorable evening meals. This floor houses a handy cloakroom too.

Down to the lower-ground level to discover a further sitting room/snug with an additional Smart TV with DVD. Perfect for teenagers to escape to (or grown-ups too!). This room leads directly out into the courtyard garden via patio doors. You'll find a separate utility down here with an additional sink - it also houses the washing machine and laundry facilities.

Next door is the first of three bedrooms, a handsome room featuring a super king-size bed which can also be configured as two singles if required. This room has an en-suite shower room with WC. The remaining two bedrooms are up on the first floor. There's a sumptuous master bedroom with a double bed, his and her wardrobes, a further TV and an en-suite shower room. And finally, a cosy twin room just perfect for kids or adults who enjoy their own space to sleep. The family bathroom sits next door and features a jacuzzi bath.

Outside, there is a small enclosed garden to the front and a larger courtyard garden to the rear. On a summer's day, it's a delightful sheltered space to enjoy dining alfresco with a patio table and chairs provided for you. Pick up some goodies from one of the several delis in town and settle down with a bottle of fizz. There's also a bike store if you want to explore this stunning countryside on two wheels. If you'd like to make use of this, just let us know in advance.

The cottage has one dedicated off-road parking space - something of a rarity in Helmsley!

The property is set just behind the square in the attractive market town of Helmsley, a real picture-postcard place with lots to do and see. Nestled perfectly at the foot of the North York Moors National Park, but just 24 miles north of York, its timeless elegance is a magnet to the Yorkshire elite.

Helmsley is a foodie’s heaven, packed with exquisite tearooms, cafes and on organic delis. It's also surrounded by some of the best gastro pubs in the UK. Tucked alongside these culinary delights are a myriad of unique shops, art galleries and antique dealers, easily enough to build up an appetite for lunch. Throw in a castle, a chic little micro-brewery and some of the most stunning countryside in the UK into the mix, and you might just have the perfect holiday location.

At the heart of the town square is a statue of Lord Feversham, a distant ancestor of the current Lord who resides in Duncombe Park. This stunning baroque mansion sits on the outskirts of town (1 mile) and is a good choice for an afternoon's sightseeing. If you want to indulge some more architectural desires, the equally grand Nunnington Hall, 6 miles south-east of the town, is another grand abode worth a peek.

The neighbouring town of Pickering (13 miles) is similar in many ways and is host to its own delightful set of shops, cafes and restaurants. 4 miles further on takes you to Thornton-Le-Dale - a chocolate-box North York Moors village with thatched houses and a sleepy little brook. Stop for some ice cream here and remind yourself how relaxing life in the slow lane feels like.

With the North York Moors on your doorstep, you can be heading for a jaunt over the hills in no time. This glorious expanse of the heather-clad countryside is simply stunning, and it's well worth taking some time to explore it properly. Somewhat smaller than the Yorkshire Dales, the North Yorkshire Moors still covers an area of almost 600 square miles and like the Dales, you can easily find yourself miles from anywhere relatively quickly. But there is something distinctly more civilised and less remote about the Moors. There is a sense of wilderness, particularly on top of the high central moorlands, but it’s cast in comforting soft focus.

You're also close to Castle Howard (13 miles), York (24.5 miles) and the Yorkshire coast, so lots of choice for day trips.

Rose Cottage in Helmsley is the perfect base for any kind of holiday. There are many options to fill your days. Helmsley is a lovely town and although the cottage is near the centre it is very quiet. The cottage is very comfortable and the living spaces are well designed. If you stay at Rose Cottage in colder months we are sure you will be warm andRead more comfortable. The parking space at the back is handy. The beds were excellent (also for a 6.6 foot husband). Love to come again! Hide
