Situated within the grounds of a historic manor house in beautiful Wharfedale, this handsome property offers elegant accommodation for a family looking for a tranquil North Yorkshire holiday home.

Welcome to this stylish and contemporary semi-detached four-bedroom family holiday home set within the grounds of a historic manor house in Wharfedale. Every bedroom in this elegant property is en-suite and has its own TV; with a snug in addition to the formal lounge, it's perfect for those larger family get-togethers. It has a beautiful setting too on the edge of public woodlands, with a pub and Yorkshire farm shop/cafe within half a mile.

Set down a long driveway among lush green fields and woodlands, arriving at this property is something of a magical experience. The exterior has a Smart country lodge feel, giving way to a bright and modern interior. The whole property is absolutely immaculate, with a minimalist design combining perfectly with comfort and quality to give a luxury hotel vibe.

Downstairs there are two reception rooms consisting of a spacious formal lounge and a cosy smaller snug at the opposite end of the house. The formal lounge comes complete with several comfortable sofas to curl up on, and there's a large LCD TV to enjoy the latest movies on. Floor-to-ceiling windows in this room afford uninterrupted views out to the lovely mature gardens. The snug boasts a wood burner and its own TV and is the perfect option for those late evening catch-ups over a glass of wine or two. It's also great for teenagers looking to escape the adults for a few hours. Wi-Fi is provided throughout.

The kitchen sits at the heart of the home. Continuing in the modernist style, you'll find sleek granite worktops and glossy white units, well-equipped with everything you'll need. There's a dishwasher and the washing machine and dryer are housed in a separate utility to the rear. The kitchen island includes a breakfast bar to perch at; an ideal spot for those pre-dinner glasses of fizz. The dining room sits next to the kitchen, and with its feature fireplace, it is an atmospheric space to enjoy a laughter-filled family dinner.

All four bedrooms are upstairs and are accessed via two different staircases. On the right-hand side of the property, there's a large master bedroom boasting a king-size bed and en-suite shower room. Next door to this is a twin bedroom, this time with an en-suite bathroom, ideal for bathing younger children. Up the second set of stairs at the other side of the house you'll find another bedroom with a double bed and en-suite shower room. There's also another twin room, again with an en-suite bathroom. This room also features a large dressing area and wardrobe space. All 4 bedrooms have the same contemporary style, their own TVs and are dressed in the finest bed linen.

There is lots to explore outside this property too, including a beautiful garden to the side boasting many mature trees and shrubs. A sheltered patio area includes garden furniture for up to 8 people, just waiting for those al fresco family lunches that make self-catering holidays so memorable. And for some chill out time, book yourself a slot on the large contemporary garden swing chair – just the place to escape to with a good book. And when the kids start getting restless, take them for a wander through the woods and reintroduce them to Mother Nature, Yorkshire style!

The property is set within the grounds of a large manor house in Wharfedale, just a few miles south of the gorgeous Victorian Spa town of Harrogate. With open countryside and woodland all around, there is a liberating sense of getting away from it all, but with the comfort of knowing the modernities of town life are within easy reach.

Less than half a mile away you'll find a pub and farm shop/deli, featuring the very best of local Yorkshire produce. Within easy walking distance, it's a nice option for lunch if you don't feel like cooking one day.

There are several lovely market towns close to The Copse, with perhaps Ilkley (5 miles) offering the most to enjoy. Highly regarded for its stylish architecture and beautiful floral displays, there's plenty to see and do in this elegant Victorian town. Take a turn around the gardens down by the river, indulge in afternoon tea at Betty's, explore the many independent shops and boutiques, and make sure you pick up something yummy for supper at one of the several up-market delis in town.

If you want to venture a little further, the property is ideally placed to explore the historic market town of Skipton (18 miles) and the exquisite Yorkshire Dales beyond. It's a true walker's paradise and you are very close to the famous Three Peaks of Ingleborough, Pen-y-ghent and Whernside.

If you're more of a roamer than a rambler try a stroll around the grounds of nearby Bolton Abbey (12 miles). These striking ruins provide the backdrop to a particularly beautiful part of the Dales and are well worth a visit.

This area of the Yorkshire Dales is home to many charming villages and towns worth exploring. The pretty cobbled streets of Grassington are within 25 miles, with the village of Kettlewell another 5 miles on.

Visiting the gorgeous town of Harrogate (16 miles) is a must during your stay here. Encircled by its famous 'Stray' or '1000 acres' of horseshoe-shaped grassland, Harrogate has a bright and breezy open-air feel and is characterised by its impressive floral displays. As you would expect of such a bustling upbeat town, Harrogate boasts over 300 bars and restaurants together with all the shops, swimming pools, cinemas, parks and gardens you could ever wish for.

I was the only member of my 7-person group who found the bed a bit too firm so, perhaps, this is not a problem for most folk. Had the bed been more comfortable, I would be saying this cottage was perfect. The space, the facilities, the gardens and the location were all first class (assuming you have a car).
