A contemporary, comfortable home from home ideal for gatherings with loved ones and celebrating special occasions, benefitting from great access to town, country and coast.

A spacious contemporary holiday home just a short walk away from the stunning seaside village of Robin Hood's Bay and with three generous bedrooms and bags of living space, this immaculate coastal property is perfect for families who enjoy having their own space. The interior of this property is bright, elegant and comfortable with warm oak floors throughout downstairs. Every room has been lovingly restored to give the house a warm and relaxed feel.

Step inside to find a large utility/boot room housing the washing machine, dryer and additional fridge. It's the perfect place to dry off wet sandy shoes after a walk along the beach. Next door is a beautiful family kitchen which is a perfect blend of old and new. Sleek new units and a large range cooker sit happily beside an original antique pie/bread oven set into the chimney breast. All mod cons are provided including a wine cooler, dishwasher and large fridge/freezer. There is a cosy kitchen dining table perfect for family breakfasts or a late night catch up over a glass of wine or two. For more formal occasions there is a separate sun-filled dining room with plenty of room for the whole family and with lovely views out towards the village.

The sitting room is also downstairs and comes complete with two comfortable sofas and a flame-effect wood burner fire to curl up in front of. There's an LCD TV and DVD player in here, great if you fancy a cosy afternoon with a family movie, and there's Netflix and Wi-Fi to keep everyone entertained. Family games and books are also provided.

All three bedrooms in the property are set upstairs across two further floors. The first of which is a fabulous master bedroom featuring a cast iron double bed. Wake up and throw open the blinds to a gorgeous view across the village and down to the sea. Slide across the glass door to discover a beautiful en-suite bathroom boasting an enormous free-standing bath. Treat yourself to a long hot soak after a busy day sightseeing along Yorkshire's coast.

The second bedroom is next door, a charming and generous twin room with a New England theme. There is also a family shower room on this floor with a large walk-in shower. Make your way up to the top floor to find the third bedroom, an elegant and peaceful double room with a pleasant seaside theme. This room also has a comfortable sofa if you want to escape for some peace and quiet with a good book.

Something of a rarity in Robin Hood's Bay, there is on-street parking available within close proximity to the cottage.

The property’s location is fantastic. Set in the heart of Fylingthorpe, a charming and traditional Yorkshire village at the top of Robin Hood's Bay, you have everything you need on your doorstep including a very sweet village store and a great pub under half a mile away. Robin Hood's Bay is less than a mile away and is easily walkable from the property.

Robin Hood's Bay is one of the most popular coastal locations in Yorkshire. Once home to the busiest smuggling trade on the Yorkshire Coast, said to involve fisherman, clergy and gentry alike, today the village has adopted a much more sedate pace of life. The village is a maze of cobbled streets and higgledy-piggledy houses which seem to tumble down towards the sea. Walkers can delight in the fact that Wainwright's famous Coast to Coast walk starts (or finishes depending which way you look at it) just a few yards from the door. And the Bay itself is just one of the charming locations on the coast.

For dinner head down to one of the bistros or pubs. They have a lovely atmosphere, particularly at night when you can relax with a candlelit dinner over a bottle of wine or two. There are also several good pubs in the village with pub grub. If you want to dine in, take advantage of the well-stocked local stores there, including an excellent fishmonger selling the freshest locally-caught crab. The kids will love the traditional sweet shops and there are several really lovely little boutiques selling all manner of delightful things.

As hard as it will be to drag yourself away from Robin Hood’s Bay, you really ought to explore the rest of the coast. Much like its Cornish counterpart, the Yorkshire coastline is a heady mix of rugged cliff tops, peaceful bays and pretty fishing villages. With long sandy beaches and all the traditional seaside trimmings of yesteryear, this is proper bucket 'n spade territory. That's not to say it's stuck in the past, in fact, the coast's villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, with trinket shops and tea rooms sitting alongside upmarket champagne and oyster bars.

This region is best known for the gorgeously gothic town of Whitby (6 miles). Playing host at one time to Romans, Saxons, Celts and Danes amongst others, the town's rich heritage is immediately obvious. Straddling the river Esk and dominated by the 13th-century ruins of St Hilda's Abbey on the East Cliff, Whitby's crooked cobbled streets and picturesque harbour have been a magnet for artists and tourists alike for centuries. Providing the backdrop for some of Lewis Carroll's work, it was also famously the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula. For a real sense of the town's atmospheric ambience, climb the 199 abbey steps at dusk and wander around St. Mary's churchyard on the headland. You can further indulge a desire for the macabre on one of the regular ghost walks from Whale Bone Arch on West Cliff.

Although you could happily spend the weekend mooching about the independent shops, bars and cafes along Whitby's bustling medieval streets, it's well worth striking out to sample some of the other less known coastal villages nearby. Sandsend (10 miles), Staithes (17 miles) and Runswick Bay (17 miles) are all within easy driving distance, and each has their own unique charm.

Well equipped and comfortable. It was an excellent base for exploring the area, without the inconvenience of being down in the bottle-neck of Robin Hood's Bay itself. Street parking was tricky but manageable. The stairs may be a little too steep for some, but our 5 to 69 year age range coped ok.
