Tucked away in a tranquil position with the sound of the river trickling nearby, this charming hideaway is perfect for couples and families looking to immerse themselves in the Yorkshire countryside.

This beautiful two-bedroom holiday home is set on the banks of the River Ure in Aysgarth, Wensleydale. There is much to love about this luxury Yorkshire Dales cottage; the traditional stone wall exterior, the view of Aysgarth Falls from your balcony, the elegant and contemporary interiors, we could go on. Designed for couples and young families alike, this property is the perfect choice for a self-catering holiday in the Yorkshire Dales.

Inside, the cottage has been refurbished to an extremely high standard without disrupting the inherent character of the cottage. Traditional oak beams, a stone fireplace and thick walls give you a real sense of history in this 19th-century building. The decor in the cottage is one of understated style, with warm wooden floors, soft colours and top quality furnishings throughout.

Downstairs you'll find a generous open-plan space housing with under floor heating throughout the kitchen, dining area and lounge. It's a pleasure rustling up breakfast in the contemporary kitchen and settling down to enjoy it with a view of the river from your table. In the evenings you can fire up the wood burner, kick back on the large leather sofa and relax; the cosy lounge features an LCD TV and DVD Player, or perhaps you'd rather dive into that book you have been meaning to read for months. With only the sound of the river in the background, it's the perfect holiday cottage for a little rest and recuperation.

And so to bed. Both bedrooms in the cottage are upstairs. There's a double room to the rear and a very sweet twin room at the front. You'll also find the family bathroom up here, complete with a bath to sink into after a long day sightseeing. The same understated but luxurious ambience is continued upstairs, giving the whole cottage a peaceful and warm feel.

Outside the cottage has a lawned garden, perfect for lunch by the river in the warmer months. There is also a BBQ for your use. To the rear of the cottage there is a balcony affording views of Aysgarth Falls. If fishing is your thing, the property comes complete with fishing rights for the River Ure. There is also an outhouse which is ideal for storing bikes and other outdoor equipment.

The cottage is located in Asygarth in Wensleydale, one of the most appealing parts of the Yorkshire Dales. Set on the end of a very pretty row of stone cottages on the banks of the River Ure, there is a certain fairytale appeal to this holiday cottage. It's hidden away from the main road and it looks directly out onto the River Ure, with Asygarth Falls around a mile away.

The handsome dales village of Asygarth is on your doorstep, featuring several great options to eat within easy walking distance from the cottage. Beyond the village lies the exquisite landscape of Wensleydale. The views here are simply stunning. The scene is one of lush valleys, mellow pastures and pretty villages, criss-crossed with acres of dry stone walls along its 40-mile length.

Wensleydale is also famed for its waterfalls, the most notable being Asygarth Falls, right beside the cottage, and Hardraw Force. Wensleydale also borders the wild and magnificent dales of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale (20 miles) to the North. A great choice for a day trip if you want to get away from it all.

It's something of a walker's paradise in the Yorkshire Dales with several pleasant walks right from your doorstep. There are also lots of pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of the cottage. Jervaulx Abbey (13 miles) and Bolton Castle (5 miles) are nearby, the thriving market town of Hawes (home of the now famous Wensleydale cheese) is just 10 miles by car and the gorgeous villages of West Burton (2 miles) and Askrigg (5 miles) are also just a short drive from here, so there’s lots of choice for things to do if you want to get out and about.

A delightful clean, comfortable cottage in an excellent situation overlooking the River Ure. The falls were spectacular due to heavy rain but the cottage was so quiet and peaceful. The separate garden was very useful for the dogs. Many lovely varied walks from the cottage. Would highly recommend.

We had a fantastic week's holiday at Waterside Cottage. The cottage had everything we needed for a family of 4. The cottage was clean and the beds super comfy, great after a long walk on the moors. The garden was an added bonus. A great location - quiet but within easy distance for some amazing walks.

Waterside Cottage is delightful - an absolute gem. The riverside location is exquisite, and the cottage's location is both beautiful and exceptionally peaceful. The cottage is welcoming and comfortable, and we, as a family of four, felt that every need was met or provided for. All in all, a tranquil and appealing home from home.

This is a great little cottage for exploring the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Extremely Quiet location which has its advantages but not very near to a shop for the emergency pint of milk so its necessary to stock up a little beforehand, however, not a problem at all.
