This property is a Grade II listed bijou one-bedroom urban pad in the heart of historic Richmond. With all of the town's attractions within half a mile, it's the perfect holiday retreat for couples or those travelling solo.

This fabulous little cottage has been styled using top notch materials and making outstanding use of the space available. Set down a terraced street in Richmond you really have the best of both worlds: direct access to this lovely town and all its eateries and shops as well as the stunning landscapes of Swaledale and the beautiful valley of Wensleydale, just a short drive away.

The property has an open-plan layout with the kitchen, dining area and lounge all sharing the same bright and warm space. Underfoot you'll find solid oak flooring and in the lounge area a contemporary living flame fire keeps everything nice and cosy. For your entertainment there's also a large LCD TV with DVD Player, and MP3 player and Wi-Fi included, so you can sink down into your comfy leather sofa and catch up online.

The sleek modern kitchen comes complete glossy white units, a black granite worktop and a rainbow effect splashback guaranteed to brighten up even the greyest of days. There's a top of range set of SMEG kitchen fixtures including a gas hob & oven, a washer/dryer and a fridge freezer. You'll also find a state-of-the-art microwave oven should you need it and the cute dining table is accompanied by 4 brightly coloured chairs. The overall ambiance is one of contemporary luxury, with a fun twist.

Up the solid oak and glass staircase, you'll find the delightful en-suite bedroom. Again, there is plenty of light and colour up here continuing the cheerful theme. Discover a king-size solid oak bed to retreat to each night, and there's a TV/DVD player so you can enjoy a lazy breakfast in bed. The bespoke en-suite wet room has been cleverly incorporated into the room alongside a wardrobe, again making excellent use of the space. Step into the gleaming white wet room each morning and awaken the senses: the perfect start to a day's sightseeing or walking in the Dales.

Please note this is a townhouse property so some noise from cars and the town should be expected. The cobbled market square is under half a mile as are the gorgeous riverside walks out into the countryside. This charming cottage is the perfect choice for solo travellers or couples hoping to combine town living with escapes into the Dales.

Stroll into town for a cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many tea rooms there or pop over for dinner at one of the excellent restaurants.

Richmond is also known as 'The Gateway to the Dales' so expect stunning Dales scenery within minutes of leaving the town. Peppering this glorious countryside are countless attractive little towns and villages and if you enjoy a bit of surreal entertainment, how about visit to the quite brilliant Forbidden Corner, an attraction full of statues and hidden surprises just over 14 miles away near Middleham.

Film and TV buffs will also love exploring the many well-known filming locations nearby. Head down to the famous limestone pavements at Malham Cove, 42 miles, where Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was filmed. Or head for lunch at the Kings Arms in Askrigg, just under 20 miles away, and see if you can recall it from the pub scenes in All Creatures Great and Small.

The historic village of Easby, home to Easby Abbey, is just a mile from the cottage and is easily walkable along the river. Set on the banks of the River Swale, the Abbey is the perfect spot for a picnic in the summer months. There are lots of other breathtaking historical sites to explore in the Dales, including the stunning Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, 28 miles, a World Heritage Site.

This is a superb area for walkers and cyclists with many routes from the site or just a short distance away. The famous coast to coast walking route passes within a few hundred metres of the site. Follow in the cycle tracks of the Tour de France stars who cycled here in the summer of 2014.

And with York, Harrogate and the North York Moors all within easy striking distance (under an hour’s drive on a clear run) you have lots of choice for day trips!

The cottage is lovely where it is is not ideal if you have a dog with you as the road is very busy with a narrow pavement outside so conscience of keeping our dog on a very short leash parking was a bit of a problem as it seemed very popular with locals so had to park some distance away from cottage.

The cottage is very well situated. It is small but well equipped and more than adequate for a couple. Very clean and well thought-out. The owners kindly provided us with some bread, butter and orange juice before we arrived, as well as leaving us a bottle of prosecco and two glasses!
