Set in a beautiful riverside location on a 100-acre private estate, this elegant cottage makes a perfect romantic retreat for a couple seeking to explore the glorious North Yorkshire countryside.

Set in a peaceful 100-acre private estate, this property is a charming 1-bedroom country cottage with elegant interiors and an idyllic rural riverside location. This cottage has everything you could need for a relaxing break in this gorgeous part of Yorkshire. It's beautifully furnished and set between the two grand Yorkshire Estates of Sandhall and Saltmarshe. The perfect escape to the country!

Step inside to discover a handsome entrance hall boasting warm oak flooring underfoot. At the heart of the cottage is a lovely living / dining room with pretty pastel tones and a wood burner to make things nice and cosy. Take your pick from a choice of comfortable seating and settle down in front of the wall-mounted TV with DVD player. There's a side table and chair which can double up as a desk if you can't bear to leave your laptop behind or want to write out some postcards to friends.

Oak wood flooring continues from the living area into the lovely country kitchen next door where there are lots of chic white units around this square shaped room. You'll also find plenty of space on the sleek black worktops to chop, grind, and mix, whether you are creating a light picnic lunch or a 3-course gourmet dinner! Appliances available within this spacious family kitchen include a gas hob and oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave plus an assortment of other pots, pans and utensils.

Dining is at the drop leaf circular dining table where the comfortable high-backed chairs mean you can linger and chat a while after dinner.

There is one lovely bedroom in this cottage, a light and bright room with neutral tones. The bedroom has a super king-size bed which can also be set up as two singles if you prefer. A bathroom next door with a walk-in shower means you can enjoy a refreshing morning shower before striking out for a day exploring the area. There's also a separate bath if you fancy a long hot soak in the evening.

Outside the property you'll discover a garden with decked patio area. A bistro table and chairs are also available so you can make the most of your lovely location and eat alfresco when the weather is nice. A BBQ is provided too.

Beyond the garden, you'll find tranquil private land and lovely riverside walks along the River Ouse. Heavenly!

The cottage has a beautiful rural location set close to 100 acres of private park and farmland between the River Ouse and wood in Howdenshire. There are lots of gorgeous river and parkland walks from the doorstep and you are surrounded by lush green landscapes at every turn.

Set right by the river, you can watch the tall masts of ships passing by on their way up the river to Goole. It's so peaceful here you just won't want to leave. There are wide paths for walkers/riders around the park and we recommend the river walk along to Blacktoft to the local pubs for a bite of lunch before trying out some of the other walks available.

There are lots of lovely country pubs in the area, including great options within walking distance of the cottage. If you feel like dining in, we recommend the short trip to the charming market town of Howden which is approximately 4.5 miles away with its ancient streets, lovely shops, cafes, wine bars, a heritage centre and historical buildings to explore. Stock up on the finest Yorkshire produce here, from excellent home-made bread to the most amazing pies and cakes. While you're there it would be a shame not to stop and enjoy a cup of tea and something sweet!

Howden is an ideal base from which to explore all that this area of Yorkshire has to offer and you may even spot the tower of Howden Minster from the cottage. The cottage is perfectly placed to explore medieval York, 24 miles, the Wolds to the east and if you’re in the mood for a longer drive, the North York Moors is around 52 miles to the north. Staying more local, the beautiful city of Beverley is 22 miles from the cottage. Explore the stunning Beverley Minster before indulging in a spot of shopping around its lively cobbled squares.

Further east, get to know the gorgeous Yorkshire Wolds, a range of low rolling hills rising from the river Humber and sweeping along to the stunning cliffs at Flamborough Head. This landscape was an inspiration to David Hockney with much of his work based on the countryside here. You can follow the Hockney Trail to discover the setting of some his more famous works. Keen golfers will enjoy the local course just 5 miles away and the gentle nature of the countryside here makes it an excellent location for walking and cycling.

The Wolds are also home to many historical homes and religious sites as well as one of Yorkshire's largest lavender gardens. For kids there are heaps of fantastic attractions nearby (indoor and out) including the excellent Yorkshire Wildlife Park (26 miles) and The Deep in Hull (30 miles). Nearby Hull is also the 2017 UK City of Culture and offers much to the discerning visitor in terms of the Arts and other attraction.

If you enjoy a spot of twitching, you're in heaven here with many excellent bird watching sites within easy reach. Try North Cave Wetlands situated 14.5 miles away, or Saltmarshe and Ferrybridge (25 miles) for starters.

Wonderful escape to a peaceful countryside retreat. The odd tractor and farmer equipment trundles by and the farm workers come on and out but that is part of the heartbeat of being on a farm. The cottage is beautifully presented, really spacious and was perfect for a relaxing getaway. Footpaths for walks along the river are so close by which is lovely and it was overall a really peaceful and pleasant place to stay.

A lovely cottage, part of 3 other cottages but sufficiently distanced so you have your privacy. You are part of a farm and therefor can also expect farm traffic and surroundings. The park landscape of the farm is simply lovely. You are quite remote and depend on Goole or Howden for shopping
