Uniquely located in both Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales, this romantic retreat is an ideal place for a couple to escape together and enjoy a relaxed weekend or a few days hiking and exploring a renowned UK landscape.

Discover this cosy stone cottage on the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park – it’s the ideal base for anyone looking to explore this stunning part of the country.

Step inside and you'll find a warm and welcoming living room with an abundance of character and charm. This room has country style just right with perfectly pitched cushions and throws. It's kept light and bright with wooden floors (ideal for your four-legged friends) and fresh white walls. At the heart of the room is an inglenook fireplace complete with a cosy wood burner, perfect for snuggling in front of after a day out walking in the Dales. And with comfortable seating and Smart TV, you can catch up on your favourite programmes if you fancy a quiet night in. This room is also home to the rustic dining table, just the right size for two. It's positioned by a large window so you can make the most of wonderful views as you enjoy your meal.

Head from the living room directly into the well-equipped kitchen which is clean and white with a window over the sink. You'll find all the utensils and appliances you need to rustle up provisions for days out exploring and hearty suppers on your return. As well as the cooker and electric hob, there's a useful microwave, fridge with ice-box, kettle, coffee pot and toaster. When the weather's nice you may want to take your morning cuppa onto the adjoining private patio.

Head upstairs to the bedroom with its accents of green and soft ochre that work very well with the countryside views from the window. Also upstairs is the contemporary bathroom which is crisp and white throughout. The bath comes with an overhead shower so you can have the best of both worlds - an invigorating shower each morning and a relaxing bath each night. Light some candles and this tranquil space is a soothing oasis of calm with stunning views of meadows and fells to enjoy.

Head outside and there's lots to enjoy here too. This cottage is surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and comes with a charming courtyard garden so that you can make the most of the lovely spot and countryside views. There's a table and chairs out here enabling you to enjoy an al fresco lunch and you'll find a selection of scenic walks straight from your front door.

The cottage is lovely, with a simple layout and has everything you require in the kitchen. Half way up the stairs there is access to the small patio area at the back, where there are open fields with sheep grazing. Up the stairs and it has a pleasant bathroom overlooking the fields and a spacious comfortable bedroom with plenty of hanging space forRead more your clothes. Very comfortable cottage in a quiet location. 5 minute drive into Sedbergh. Easy access to the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. Dog friendly.

Very comfortable cottage with everything you need . Comfy bed and sofa. Spotlessly clean. In great location with walks straight from the cottage. The fire was an extra bonus on our one cool evening. Dog also enjoyed her stay especially the delicious treats left by our hosts.

We enjoyed our stay at Buttercup Cottage. It is a lovely cottage in a peaceful setting. Everything is provided and the cottage was lovely and clean. There are plenty of places to see in the area or a bit further afield all reached by travelling through beautiful countryside.

This really is a gorgeous cottage! Super little place in an incredible setting, the hosts provided a lovely welcome pack and a comprehensive guide to the facilities and local area. We had a fantastic stay and I'd definitely recommend to anyone and everyone!

Great location for exploring the western Dales and south east lakes. Lovely quiet village, short walk into Sedbergh (take a torch) and the cottage is as pretty and comfortable as it looks

Absolutely stunning cottage for myself, my partner and two dogs. Fully equipped, only a short walk from the town of Sedbergh and plenty of dog walks from the door step. Highly recommend :-) Really lovely owners, definitely want to stay there again.

A fantastic little cottage in a quiet area, friendly neighbours, great walks available straight from the front door. Every tiny detail has been considered by the owner; you don't need to take any utensils, cutlery, plates, towels, etc. Will definitely recommend this to friends/family and hope to return soon.
