Formerly the village tailor’s, this detached Grade II-listed stone cottage offers period features and spacious accommodation perfect for two couples or a small group of friends looking for a classic Yorkshire Dales break, a haven for walkers.
Welcome to this magical detached Grade II listed stone cottage on the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Picture-postcard good looks, cosy welcoming interiors and a gorgeous village complete with two pubs within metres of the property: the quintessential English country cottage.
You'll find this recently converted stone barn nestled on the edge of Dent village making it perfect for walkers or anyone looking to explore this beautiful area of Yorkshire. The building dates back to the 17th century and has a rich history that includes a previous incarnation as a Tailor's Shop for the village.
Downstairs, the cottage has a dining room with table for 4 which leads straight through to the characterful lounge. Original stone floors throughout both rooms are now warmed by underfloor heating with an open fire and wooden beams to add to the country charm in the cosy living room. Take a seat on the comfortable sofa or armchairs and relax watching your favourite programmes after a day out walking in the Dales. Just the spot to unwind and re-charge the batteries…
Head from the living room directly into the contemporary well-equipped kitchen with its granite worktops, shaker style units and wonderful views across unspoilt countryside to the rear. You'll find more oak beams and heated stone floors in here along with an oven, fridge, microwave and induction hob. There's also a kettle, toaster and all the utensils you need to whip up everything from a quick snack to a hearty dinner during your stay. There's a handy separate utility room in the old stables outside the property which includes a fridge-freezer, washing machine and room for your bicycles and boots. A charming stable door leads straight to your own private slice of the Dales and it's edged in traditional dry-stone wall.
Upstairs at the property is a second spacious living room which is the perfect spot to enjoy a morning read or relax with a bit of TV. Doors on each side of this room lead to two lovely bedrooms, one double and one twin, which both have original fireplaces and more traditional oak beams. A plush grey carpet has been fitted throughout making these rooms warm and cosy underfoot. There's plenty of storage too with fitted oak wardrobes in the double bedroom and a chest of drawers in the twin bedroom.
The final room upstairs is the stunning bathroom which comes with a feature slipper bath to really make the most of the amazing setting. Sink into here and soak up the uninterrupted Yorkshire Dales views. There's also a separate walk-in shower and underfloor heating to complete the luxury finish.
The outside of this property is really rather special indeed. Throw open the stable door and you'll discover a patio leading to your private grassed area that's surrounded by the gorgeous scenery of the Yorkshire Dales. The fields by the cottage were even used in a recent Cravendale 'red tractor' milk advert.
There's a table and chair set out here where you can enjoy a morning cuppa or even a spot of al fresco dining. A handy BBQ is also provided for the summer months. A gate at the bottom will take you through one of the owner's fields and leads straight down to the River Dee where you can walk along the Dales Way to nearby Dent. Enjoy a hearty pub lunch before the walk back. Heaven!
