Enjoy a special break with loved ones in this beautiful converted police station, with sumptuous stylish furnishings, gates and hot tub, this relaxing retreat will provide a memorable stay.

Situated in the pretty, bustling village of Great Ayton, this stunning property offers couples and families a great location within a few miles of the North York Moors National Park. With stunning scenery to admire, tranquillity to immerse yourselves in and a wealth of activities to enjoy, you will never be bored. There is something for everyone in this area, such as walking, cycling, fishing, photography and history. At the end of a busy day, you will love returning home to this stylish property and taking a soak in the private hot tub with a glass of your favourite tipple.

As the former village police station, this property is steeped in history, but as you enter through the gates, you will notice there is nothing historical about this house. It has been lovingly renovated to create a contemporary, chic home with all the mod-cons. Stepping through the front door, you will find yourself in the hallway which is the perfect place to cast off muddy boots and wet coats. You then move into the light, airy and spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The blend of natural stones, warm woods and sumptuous fabrics create an elegant yet comfortable feel, with the light flooding through the two sets of French doors. The kitchen is well-equipped and there is plenty of seating for everyone at the sturdy dining table.

Staying on the ground floor, you’ll find one of the beautiful bedrooms (a twin, which can also be made up as a king-size by request when booking) and its boutique hotel-style en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath; its natural stone tiles create a sense of warmth. The second bedroom, another gorgeous king-size, is upstairs and also has a contemporary, stylish en-suite shower room. Both bedrooms are tastefully decorated and have a TV so that you can curl up under the duvet and enjoy your favourite shows.

The tasteful renovations continue outside with a large patio/courtyard with slate and chippings underfoot and clean lines and contrasting tones creating impact. There is an outside sofa for you to sit and enjoy a coffee and a newspaper or a glass of prosecco and good company. If you need to soothe your aching limbs after a day of activities, why not hop into the hot tub, sit back and relax. As it’s covered, you can make the most of it come rain or shine. There is off-road parking available for one car, with additional parking available on request."

This is the sister property to 'The Old Police Cottage' which is just round the corner!

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size and 1 twin zip-and-link (which can be made up as a super-king-size by request when booking)
  • 1 bathroom and 1 en-suite shower room
  • Electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher
  • Hot tub
  • Off-road parking for 2 cars
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Pub and shop within walking distance
  • TV in lounge and both bedrooms
  • Please note CCTV cameras cover the driveway of the house for security
  • Arrival: 14:30 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week

Perched on the banks of the River Leven, the attractive village of Great Ayton has a wonderful village vibe. With a selection of pubs, restaurants, cafes and tearooms only a few hundred metres from your door, you could eat out every night if you wanted to. As home to a young Captain Cook, there is also the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum which allows you to explore his early life in the surrounding area. If you love to walk, from Great Ayton you can walk up to Roseberry Topping (2 miles); a prominent hill with lots of walking trails that lead up to the distinctive summit and cliffs.

The vibrant little village of Osmotherley (15 miles) is well-known as a starting point for walkers and cyclists. This gorgeous little place is real picture-postcard stuff. It also offers excellent facilities including a cafe, village stores and a fish and chip shop. If you're a bit of a foodie, this part of Yorkshire is packed with fantastic gastropubs, restaurants and delis. Situated within the western reaches of the North York Moors, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, Osmotherley has close proximity to lush pastures and woodlands. The western Moors play host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market town and the views from here are simply stunning, and there are walks and cycle routes in every direction. You very close to the famous Cleveland Way as well as many more well-known and picturesque moorland walks, some of which lead all the way to the sea.

Great Ayton’s position at the northern end of the North York Moors means the coast is easily accessible from here. To breathe in the fresh, sea air, head to seaside town Saltburn-by-the-Sea (11 miles) with its pier, cliff tramway, golden sand and clean surf.

House was comfortable and secure. Hot tub was fabulous. Location not good for us as on a busy road and we had mobility scooter. Traffic very busy and paths narrow. Unfortunately a lot of selfish drivers who would park on paths so couldnt get past. No crossing in the village. Eateries were nice with good good and friendly.
