Set near beautiful Nidderdale, this lovely converted cottage is the perfect holiday home being in a secluded spot in peaceful countryside, which is also in short driving distance to the local market town of Otley and the spa town of Harrogate.
On a quiet, country lane in the Washburn Valley in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, stands this attractive, picture-postcard cottage. With a variety of foliage trailing across the front, it blends in well with the surrounding countryside, and is the perfect place for walking and cycling enthusiasts who are keen to explore what this part of North Yorkshire has to offer. Set against a backdrop of rolling hills, you will be able to immerse yourself in the rural tranquillity whilst recovering from a busy day exploring and plan the next day’s adventure. Only a mile away from the wildlife and scenery of Lindley Wood Reservoir (one of four in the Washburn Valley), there are plenty of walks and trails on your doorstep, but should you want to travel further, there is plenty to see and do. Yorkshire boasts many delightful market towns, such as Otley (3.5 miles), Ilkley (9.5 miles) and Pateley Bridge (15 miles), with a wonderful selection of tearooms, pubs, galleries, museums and independent shops to discover. Many walks and trails also start off in these towns, so a walk in the countryside is never far away.
This is the quintessential English cottage in every way, from its stone facade to its exposed beams, recently installed new windows throughout and well-chosen soft furnishings, ensuring that guests will immediately feel at home and be able to relax into their holiday. The neutral tones in the cosy lounge help to make it feel bright, whilst emphasising the stone fireplace, wood burner and original beams. The ‘dog snug’ under the stairs is an innovative use of the space and it provides somewhere safe and comfortable to leave your dog.
The country-cottage style kitchen is delightful and well-equipped; once again, light tones have been used to create the feeling of space. There is a dining table for two in the kitchen, which easily extends to provide seating for four when needed.
Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms with subtle, country-style fabrics and light colours used to create a calming feel in both rooms. Across the hall, the stylish, tiled bathroom has a shower over the bath.
Through the gate on the other side of the country lane, a private garden awaits you. The elevated patio, with dining furniture, provides a great spot for a morning coffee or evening glass of bubbly, whilst you admire the variety of mature trees and stunning views beyond. There is also a pond, but please note that it is uncovered. There is off-road parking for two cars.
