This attractive, converted cottage is the ideal property for two couples or a small family looking to explore the stunning Yorkshire coast and countryside. Situated 1.5 miles to the east of the popular market town of Stokesley, where the friendly  pubs, cafes and independent shops are all within easy reach. It also has plenty of history to uncover, a regular country market and beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, including the stunning local landmark, Roseberry Topping. There are plenty of other picturesque local villages to discover nearby too, like Great Ayton (3 miles)  and Osmotherley (11.5 miles) which also offer a range of eateries/shops and are perfect for lazy strolls. For something more challenging, as ‘the gateway to the North York Moors’, Stokesley also has a number of walking and cycling routes close by, and of course, there is the Cleveland Way,  that will allow you to get out, enjoy the great outdoors and immerse yourself in the dramatic, heather-clad uplands.

Light floods into this immaculate property through the many windows, bouncing off the neutral white and grey tones throughout, whilst the original vaulted ceilings and exposed beams help to add a sense of space to this modern cottage.

Stepping inside, you find yourself in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which is bright and airy. The furniture is a mix of contemporary and traditional and includes a two seater sofa, an easy chair and comfortable dining chairs which work well in this attractive conversion. There is a Smart TV for watching your favourite shows. The kitchen is well-equipped and has everything you’ll need to cook a meal to enjoy together at the dining table.

The property has two delightful double bedrooms that are also light and calming and one family shower room. For competitive guests, there is the fun addition of a games room with table tennis, so grab your bats and get ready for a tournament. Alternatively, you can use this room as a bike store, should you need it. In here, there is also a fridge freezer.

Outside, there is a pretty country garden with a large lawn area to enjoy. There is also a more secluded ‘secret’ garden through an archway where you can enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening whilst soaking up the sounds of the countryside. You may also get a visit from the owners pets, Misty and Chilli, their friendly cat and dog  as they live next door and may like to say hello. There is off-road parking for one car next to the cottage.

In addition to Stokesley, which is your nearest town, there is also the attractive village of Great Ayton (3.5 miles), which has a wonderful village vibe. With a selection of pubs, restaurants, cafes and tearooms, you could eat out every night if you wanted to. As home to a young Captain Cook, there is also the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum which allows you to explore his early life in the surrounding area. If you love to walk, from Great Ayton you can walk up to Roseberry Topping (2 miles from Great Ayton and 5.5 miles from the property); a prominent hill with lots of walking trails that lead up to the distinctive summit and cliffs.

There is also the vibrant little village of Osmotherley (12.5 miles) that is well-known as a starting point for walkers and cyclists. This gorgeous little place is real picture-postcard stuff. It also offers excellent facilities including a cafe, village stores and a fish and chip shop. If you're a bit of a foodie, this part of Yorkshire is packed with fantastic gastropubs, restaurants and delis. Situated within the western reaches of the North York Moors, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, Osmotherley has close proximity to lush pastures and woodlands. The western Moors play host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market town and the views from here are simply stunning, with walks and cycle routes in every direction. You are very close to the famous Cleveland Way as well as many more well-known and picturesque moorland walks, some of which lead all the way to the sea.

To breathe in the fresh, sea air without hiking there, head across the northern edge of the North York Moors to the Victorian seaside town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea (16.5 miles) with its pier, cliff tramway, golden sand and clean surf. A little further away is Whitby (28 miles), which is probably the most visited and much-loved of Yorkshire's seaside resorts. It is an idyllic location for a holiday, with its seaside heritage, excellent restaurants and independent shops/bars/cafes along its medieval streets. Dominated by the 13th-century ruins of St Hilda's Abbey on the East Cliff, the town's rich heritage is immediately obvious and famously inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
