This attractive home in the peaceful village of Lund in the Yorkshire countryside is the perfect rural retreat for families or couples. With a wealth of trails and routes on your doorstep and beyond, there is something for everyone, whether you prefer to explore on foot or by bike. There is a great village pub across the road, so you don't need to cook, but should you need supplies you can head to bustling market town Beverley (7.5 miles). Venturing further afield, the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty lies to the north, the Yorkshire coast to the east and the city of Hull to the south with a range of museums, galleries, shops and eateries. It is one of two properties at this location.

Effortlessly blending contemporary cottage decor with original features, this property has been sympathetically renovated to create a charming home full of character. High ceilings and light walls make it feel bright and airy throughout, making it a great place to relax and spend quality time together.

Enter this semi-detached property into the spacious, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where whitewashed exposed beams, exposed stonework and wooden floors ensure natural materials take centre stage. Meanwhile, traditional soft furnishings and furniture add a touch of comfort and class. The kitchen is large and modern with everything you'll need to cook family meals for everyone. You can then enjoy sociable mealtimes at the table by the double doors which allow light to flood in. Of an evening, retire to the lounge where you can sink into a sofa or chair to the sound of the roaring wood burner. There is also a shower/utility room with WC and a washing machine on the ground floor.

Heading upstairs, you will find the two king-size rooms (one of which can be made up as a twin on request). Both rooms have vaulted ceilings, light walls and a neutral palette to create a relaxing atmosphere. Completing the accommodation is a shower room and a second modern bathroom, with a freestanding bath which affords views of the garden.

From the double doors, head outside to the large enclosed garden which becomes a sun trap in the summer months. There is a small patio with dining furniture, which is a lovely spot for a morning coffee or a spot of al fresco dining, and a large lawn, which dogs and children will love running around. There is off-road parking for up to two cars and additional roadside parking in the village. There is also lockable bike storage available.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as a twin on request) and 1 king-size
  • 1 bathroom with free standing bath and 1 ground floor shower room
  • Electric oven and hob, fridge with freezer compartent and dishwasher
  • Utility area with washing machine and microwave
  • Wood burner (first basket on logs included, additional logs can be purchased from the owner)
  • Electric included Underfloor heating on ground floor and gas central heating on 1st floor
  • Off-road parking for up to 2 carefully parked cars and additional roadside parking
  • Wi-Fi included

The beautiful market town of Beverley (7.5 miles) is one of Yorkshire''s best-kept secrets with its stunning 13th-century Beverley Minster, often regarded as one of Europe''s finest Gothic churches. Take a look at the town''s medieval architecture before indulging in a spot of shopping around its lively cobbled squares. Finish off with a drink in one of the traditional Yorkshire pubs where time has stood still for decades.

And beyond the town, get to know the gorgeous Yorkshire Wolds, a range of low rolling hills rising from the River Humber and sweeping along to the stunning cliffs of the Yorkshire Coast at Flamborough Head (25 miles). The gentle nature of the countryside here makes it an excellent location for walking and cycling.

The Wolds are also home to many historical homes and religious sites as well as one of Yorkshire's largest lavender gardens. And for kids, there are heaps of fantastic attractions nearby (indoor and out) including The Deep in Hull (17.5 miles). The North York Moors National Park is also within 35 miles and makes for a great day out.

The jewel in North Yorkshire's crown, York, is a favourite amongst visitors and is definitely worth the 28-mile drive. This ancient walled city has been the north's spiritual capital for 2,000 years, but that's not to say it is stuck in the past; York's affluent population and its influx of tourist pounds has helped to create a cultural and commercial oasis. History seeps out of every cobbled street, but the crooked old buildings house a fantastic range of contemporary designer shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Make sure you take in York Minster, The Shambles, the Railway Museum, the Jorvik Viking Centre and Betty's tea room whilst you're there.

This cottage is in a lovely, friendly village, with a great, private garden ideal for dogs to run about. The cottage is well provided, clean and comfortable. We had a lovely stay here and would definitely consider it again if holidaying in the area.

Great cottage for families and with dogs. Fantastic garden and walks around the area. Great base for exploring. Owners very friendly. The 2 local pubs/restaurants were out of this world food wise (1 with Michelin star!). Great layout and would come again with perhaps grandparents in adjoining property.

Only negative was when we ran out of logs on last night....we only used a few logs on the nights we lit the fire and when we asked about having just a couple of logs for the last night ,they offered to sell us some, which we found a bit tight, especially after what we had paid for three nights due it being over New Year.Fab location and lovely cottaRead morege. We have stayed in the cottage next door before, so this was our second stay with our hosts.
