With the River Swale running through the village, it is at the heart of Swaledale, which is one of the northernmost valleys in the national park - famous for its heather-clad moors, picturesque waterfalls and, in particular, its meadows of wildflowers. People come from all over the world to see the fields come alive with every colour under the rainbow, a unique phenomenon due to the fact that the local farmers don't use chemicals in the fields. Calendar highlights include Swaledale Festival, which takes place in May, and sees two weeks of amazing music, art, walking and culture, whilst the Muker Show takes place every September. Despite its rural location, the village has its own pub, cafe, shop and art gallery, which makes it a great place to return to of an evening when you're too tired to cook. Guests also have the choice to explore the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which lies just north of the property and offers yet more stunning landscapes and a range of wildlife to discover.
