Stay in this stylish and contemporary property, perfect for those wanting to relax or explore, with plenty to see and do nearby, walking and cycling and you can even enjoy a day in the city of York.

This stunning property nestled amongst the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the ideal rural retreat for families or friends looking to relax together and explore the delights of the surrounding area. With lush green countryside in all directions, there is an abundance of walking and cycling routes on your doorstep and beyond, allowing you to discover the natural beauty on offer. And with market towns, historic country houses, castles, woods and parkland landscapes, there is something for everyone in this picturesque area of England. Despite occupying a peaceful location, you are still only 2.5 miles from the pretty market town of Malton, also known as ‘Yorkshire's Food Capital', which has a range of eateries to suit all tastes and budgets.

Sympathetically renovated, this former barn is bursting with original features that are beautifully combined with contemporary design and traditional touches to create a unique, yet comfortable home. Large windows on the ground floor allow light to flood in and the neutral palette adds to the feeling of space, whilst warm wooden tones add comfort and class. It is one of two properties at this location.

On entering the property, you'll find yourself in the bright and airy entrance hall, which is the perfect place to discard muddy boots and wet coats. From here, head through into the spacious lounge/diner which has plenty of seating for everyone around the table and comfy sofas to sink into of an evening. As the underfloor heating warms your toes, relax and soak up the views of the countryside. Back through the hall, you'll find the well-equipped kitchen, which is a great spot for cooking up some treats for everyone.

Upstairs, the master king-size bedroom is large and luxurious and its en-suite shower room is modern with a quirky window adding character. There are two further bedrooms (a double and a twin), both of which have a charming blend of contemporary style and traditional furniture. A large bathroom completes the accommodation.

From the kitchen, you can access an immaculate walled garden with a patio area and furniture, making it an ideal spot for al fresco dining and a bottle of wine. Beyond the patio, there is an enclosed paddock for your dogs (or children) to stretch their legs. There is off-road parking for two cars.

  • 3 bedrooms – 1 king-size, 1 double and 1 twin (which can be made a super-king upon request at time of booking)
  • 1 bathroom, 1 en-suite shower room and 1 separate WC
  • Electric oven and gas hob, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge/freezer
  • Electric and under floor heating included
  • Off-road parking for 2 cars
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Large enclosed paddock for dogs

The vibrant and attractive market town of Pickering (10.5 miles) is perfect for a relaxing wander around its pretty houses, shops and tearooms. Grand Georgian architecture stands alongside cosy traditional cottages to create a picture-postcard location with several excellent restaurants, pubs and cafes in the town. The wonderful North York Moors Railway starts in Pickering where you can catch a steam train to Whitby and back again through some of the most picturesque countryside in Yorkshire.

In addition to Pickering, there are many well-heeled towns and villages dotted about the Moors, where honey-coloured sandstone buildings lend warm contrast to the deep purple and green of the surrounding hills. The beautiful market town of Helmsley is 13 miles away and is well worth a visit for its great restaurants, cafes and delis. If you fancy a little pampering, you'll also find a fantastic day spa here.

Families will enjoy the theme park and zoo at Flamingo Land, 10 miles away and Eden Camp, a fascinating modern history museum, is just 4.5 miles away. You're also close to Castle Howard (4.5 miles) and York (20 miles) so lots of choice for day trips.

Beyond Pickering lies the awe-inspiring North York Moors, a landscape of gently rolling hills of heather, ancient woodland and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all, take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands, which is also a great option if walking is your thing. The famous Blakey Ridge affords some of the best views in the country and you are surrounded on all sides by some truly stunning routes.

On the edge of the North York Moors, the pretty town of Kirkbymoorside (14 miles) has much to offer including a gallery, antique shops, tea rooms, deli, wine shop and butchers. There's also a great market on Wednesdays.

The North Yorkshire Coast is not far from the property either, with popular seaside resort Scarborough only 26 miles away. Take a day trip here and experiences the sights, sounds and tastes of Yorkshire's coastline.
