Property code: 75899

Ideally located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with something for everyone to enjoy, head to the city of York, visit Castle Howard or walk or cycle through the surrounding countryside.

This gorgeous property nestled amongst the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the ideal countryside retreat for families or groups of friends looking to spend quality time together whilst exploring the delights of the local area. Immerse yourselves in the tranquillity of the surrounding countryside, whilst being only 2.5 miles from the charming market town of Malton, ‘Yorkshire's Food Capital', which has a range of eateries offering something for all tastes and budgets. With lush green countryside in all directions, there is an abundance of walking and cycling routes on your doorstep and beyond, allowing you to discover the very best of rural North Yorkshire. With market towns, historic country houses, castles, woods and parkland landscapes, there really is something for everyone.

Packed with original features, this sympathetically renovated former barn beautifully combines traditional with contemporary features to create a stunning, yet comfortable home. Large bi-folding doors on the ground floor allow light to flood in and the neutral palette adds to the feeling of space, whilst warm wooden tones and stone floors add comfort and character. It is one of two properties at this location.

You enter the property into a convenient hall – a great place to leave muddy boots and wet coats. From here, head into the spacious, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which certainly has the ‘wow-factor'. Large vaulted ceilings add a sense of grandeur, whilst traditional, rustic furniture reminds you of the property's heritage. The well-equipped kitchen is a sociable place for preparing snacks or meals and the lounge offers somewhere comfortable to relax after a busy day exploring. The stone floor adds character, but the addition of underfloor heating ensures your toes don't get too chilly.

The ground floor is also home to two of the bedrooms. There is a spacious king-size room with plenty of storage, and a delightful twin room. The beautiful family bathroom is also on this floor with a separate shower and bath.

Upstairs, the master king-size bedroom is large and luxurious with a Juliet balcony for enjoying the views. It has a stylish and spacious en-suite shower room.

On a warm summer's day, open up the bi-folding doors and venture out to the gravelled courtyard and patio area where you can dine alfresco and enjoy a glass of wine. Beyond the patio, there is an enclosed paddock for your dogs (or children) to stretch their legs. There is off-road parking for two cars.

  • 3 bedrooms – 2 king-size and 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom and 1 en-suite shower room
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer and fridge/freezer
  • Electric and under floor heating included
  • Off-road parking for 2 cars
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Dogs have access to large enclosed paddock
  • Shops and pubs within 2 miles
  • Complex of two properties
  • Smart TV in lounge and bedrooms
  • Please note the property is accessed by an uneven track
  • Electric car charging is charged at £30 per week per car and is payable to the owner directly.
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 4 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £250 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £30. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

The vibrant and attractive market town of Pickering (10.5 miles) is perfect for a relaxing wander around its pretty houses, shops and tearooms. Grand Georgian architecture stands alongside cosy traditional cottages to create a picture-postcard location with several excellent restaurants, pubs and cafes in the town. The wonderful North York Moors Railway starts in Pickering where you can catch a steam train to Whitby and back again through some of the most picturesque countryside in Yorkshire.

In addition to Pickering, there are many well-heeled towns and villages dotted about the Moors, where honey-coloured sandstone buildings lend warm contrast to the deep purple and green of the surrounding hills. The beautiful market town of Helmsley is 13 miles away and is well worth a visit for its great restaurants, cafes and delis. If you fancy a little pampering, you'll also find a fantastic day spa here.

Families will enjoy the theme park and zoo at Flamingo Land, 10 miles away and Eden Camp, a fascinating modern history museum, is just 4.5 miles away. You're also close to Castle Howard (4.5 miles) and York (20 miles) so lots of choice for day trips.

Beyond Pickering lies the awe-inspiring North York Moors, a landscape of gently rolling hills of heather, ancient woodland and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all, take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands, which is also a great option if walking is your thing. The famous Blakey Ridge affords some of the best views in the country and you are surrounded on all sides by some truly stunning routes.

On the edge of the North York Moors, the pretty town of Kirkbymoorside (14 miles) has much to offer including a gallery, antique shops, tea rooms, deli, wine shop and butchers. There's also a great market on Wednesdays.

The North Yorkshire Coast is not far from the property either, with popular seaside resort Scarborough only 26 miles away. Take a day trip here and experiences the sights, sounds and tastes of Yorkshire's coastline.
