Stroll less than a mile and you’ll be in the heart of Harrogate. The Victorian town is well known for its antiques and fine art, with shops and galleries around every corner, particularly in the Montpellier Quarter. If buying old paintings and furniture isn't your bag, there are a host of other reasons to part with your cash here – high fashion boutiques nestle alongside lavish home accessories stores, and the streets are punctuated with enough fine restaurants and cafes to keep you fuelled for weeks.

Whatever your appetite, no visit would be complete without a trip to Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms, and for the ultimate indulgence, we highly recommend a session at the renowned Turkish Baths. Alternatively, recharge your batteries by spending time in the town’s parklands and gardens – RHS Garden Harlow Carr and the Valley Gardens are beautiful at any time of year.

If you’d like to explore further afield, Harrogate is close to the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors. Breathtaking Nidderdale is 10 miles north-west, and the drive there will take you through some of the most dramatic Dales scenery. Try a day trip to gorgeous Ilkley (18 miles) combined with a visit to Bolton Abbey (17 miles).

Alternatively, visit the medieval city of York (22 miles), a favourite among even the most seasoned of travellers. History seeps out of every cobbled street here, the crooked old buildings today housing a fantastic range of contemporary designer shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Make sure you take in York Minster, The Shambles and the Railway Museum for the full visitor experience.

Leonards Flet is a beautifully appointed one bedroom flat with a charming garden. We stayed there for three weeks whilst visiting family who had come over from Australia. Due to the length of our stay we needed a home from home base, and thats exactly what we got. The flat is in a wonderful location in walking distance to Harrogate and close to ColRead mored Bath rd, full of really good restaurants. The flat was extremely comfortable and very well equipped. I can highly recommend it. First class. Hide
