Situated on the northern edge of the North York Moors National Park, this beautiful Scandinavian-style lodge offers families and friends a unique property for a special holiday or reunion. Occupying a tranquil setting amongst the Yorkshire countryside, it’s the perfect place to escape your hectic pace of life and enjoy quality time with loved ones. However, as part of a complex, there are facilities on site, including a spa for those who want to treat themselves and indulge in a day of complete relaxation. Great Ayton, a delightful, bustling village, is also a mile away with a range of shops and eateries. For adventurous types, whether you prefer walking or cycling, there is a wealth of routes and trails on your doorstep with something for all abilities. The property is a great size with plenty of sociable areas for everyone to come together, but it also has enough space for guests to spread out and enjoy some time alone or with a good book. After a busy day discovering the treasures on offer in the local market towns or hiking over the heather-clad hills, head back home, slip into your fluffy robes and sink into your private hot tub for a spot of star gazing.

When it comes to the interior, wood takes centre stage in this exquisite lodge, but the juxtaposition of rustic charm and contemporary design creates a welcoming home where you will find it easy to relax.

As you step up on to the covered porch area, discard your muddy shoes and step inside. On your right, you will find a large lounge/diner where high vaulted ceilings add to the sense of space and comfy seating ensures everyone has somewhere to snuggle down of an evening. It’s up to you whether you choose to watch TV or play board games. The dining area is also spacious and has ample seating for everyone to enjoy a meal together. Adjacent to the dining area is a compact, but well-equipped, kitchen with all the mod-cons you’ll need to cook up a tasty meal.

Immediately on your left as you enter the property is a contemporary shower room, whilst straight ahead is the first of the bedrooms which is a well-presented, spacious king-size bedroom. Two further bedrooms can be found off the dining room. There is a beautiful king-size room with a Smart TV and finally an immaculate twin room. Completing the property is a good-sized family bathroom with contemporary tiling and inspirational wall decals.

Outside, there is decking to the front and side of the property which creates an undercover seating area complete with stylish chairs and dining furniture – just perfect for dining alfresco in changeable British weather. There is also a hot tub (not undercover), allowing you to admire the stars on a clear evening as you sink beneath the bubbles. Free parking is available in the car park, subject to availability.

The attractive village of Great Ayton (1 mile) has a wonderful village vibe. With a selection of pubs, restaurants, cafes and tearooms, you could eat out every night if you wanted to. As home to a young Captain Cook, there is also the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum which allows you to explore his early life in the surrounding area. If you love to walk, from Great Ayton you can walk up to Roseberry Topping (2.5 miles); a prominent hill with lots of walking trails that lead up to the distinctive summit and cliffs.

The gorgeous market town of Stokesley (4 miles) is also worth a visit. It’s attractive mix of Victorian and Georgian architecture and cobbled streets is home to independent shops, tea rooms and pubs. It also holds an Agricultural Show every September which shows off the best the area has to offer with lots of things to see and do.

The vibrant little village of Osmotherley (14.5 miles) is well-known as a starting point for walkers and cyclists. This gorgeous little place is real picture-postcard stuff. It also offers excellent facilities including a cafe, village stores and a fish and chip shop. If you're a bit of a foodie, this part of Yorkshire is packed with fantastic gastropubs, restaurants and delis. Situated within the western reaches of the North York Moors, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, Osmotherley has close proximity to lush pastures and woodlands. The western Moors play host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market town and the views from here are simply stunning, and there are walks and cycle routes in every direction. You are very close to the famous Cleveland Way as well as many more well-known and picturesque moorland walks, some of which lead all the way to the sea.

This property’s position at the northern end of the North York Moors means the coast is easily accessible from here. To breathe in the fresh, sea air, head to seaside town Saltburn-by-the-Sea (11 miles) with its pier, cliff tramway, golden sand and clean surf.

The Blue Lodge is a wonderful, relaxing and slightly quirky place to relax with lots of space for us to spread out and chill. The veranda is a lovely place to relax, eat, drink and watch the birds. After a stroll up Roseberry Topping, the hot tub was very welcome! The onsite Bistro was lovely - hope to try the spa next time. I would highly recommenRead mored this lodge. Hide
