Property code: 77800

This delightful cottage nestled amongst the country lanes of the Yorkshire village of Stainforth is bursting with charm and style making it the ideal romantic retreat for couples. Its location in Ribblesdale on the south-eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park means you’re also close to the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, allowing you to appreciate the scenery, flora and fauna in both of these beautiful areas. When it comes to getting out and enjoying the fresh, country air, you’ll be spoilt for choice, as there are plenty of walking and cycling routes/trails on your doorstep and beyond. Just half a mile from the village, is the wonderful Stainforth Force, which is popular with visitors; in autumn, you might even be lucky enough to see leaping salmon. This cosy cottage allows you to immerse yourselves in the rural tranquillity, it is also conveniently located only 3 miles from the lively market town of Settle with its range of independent shops and eateries and a wealth of heritage.

A traditional stone cottage, this property blends in beautifully with its rural surroundings. It’s as pretty on the outside as it is on the inside, where it’s been sympathetically restored with high quality contemporary cottage décor with careful attention to detail. Light walls and French country chic furniture make it feel bright and sophisticated, whilst vibrant pops of colour add warmth and character.

Stepping through the front door, you’ll find yourself in the spacious kitchen which has original beams, a traditional Belfast sink and gorgeous cabinets, as well as all the mod-cons you’ll need. From here, head through into the bright lounge/diner and be impressed by the statement sofa; the perfect place to settle down for the evening in front of the wood burner in its original fireplace.

On the first floor, there is one king-size bedroom, which is elegantly decorated to create a welcoming and restful atmosphere. Across the landing is the equally as elegant bathroom, which is very spacious and has a freestanding roll-top bath and a separate shower.

French doors in the kitchen lead down a couple of steps to the idyllic courtyard where you can relax on the recliner and admire the charming shrubs and plants or dine at the table and chairs. The sound of the babbling brook can be heard in the background. There is off road parking for one car and lockable storage for bikes.

  • 1 bedroom - king-size
  • 1 bathroom
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and coffee machine
  • Wood burner (first basket of logs included)
  • Lockable outdoor storage for bikes

  • Village pub within 3 minutes walk
  • Arrival: 16:30 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details

Settle (3 miles) is a well-loved and bustling market town home to lots of lovely cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. There's also a thriving market held in the town every Tuesday, the perfect place to pick up everything from flowers to dinner that night. If real ale is your thing, there are three fantastic real ale pubs set around the marketplace, so you can choose which one to try each evening!

Just outside of town you can hop on the Settle to Carlisle railway, one of the most scenic routes in the UK which will take you over the well-known Ribblehead Viaduct (10 miles). Beyond Settle you have the exquisite delights of the Yorkshire Dales. And as you would expect, the surrounding countryside here is simply magnificent, perfect if you want to strike out from the cottage in your walking boots or on your bicycle.

The historic town of Skipton (19 miles) is also close by and offers a host of other attractions including its very own castle. There are lots of options to eat here as well as independent shops marking it a great option for a full day out. Other nearby attractions include the Kilnsey Trout Farm and horse-riding at Coniston, Malham.

It's a true walker's paradise here but if you're more of a roamer than a rambler, try a stroll around the grounds of nearby Bolton Abbey (25 miles). These gorgeous ruins provide the backdrop to a particularly beautiful part of the Dales and are well worth a visit. There are a host of other attractions all within easy reach including Malham Cove and Malham Tarn (both 7.5 miles).

This cottage is superbe: very pretty and very cosy. Its little garden situated next to a stream is wonderful to sit in and relax. But there is not much light coming into the ground floor (kitchen and living room). But the lamps in the rooms make them bright all the same. The bedroom on the first floor is fantastic and there is a lot of light. You cRead morean go on lovely walks directly from the cottage. There is also a nice pub with a very friendly owner in the village of Stainforth. Hide

Very comfortable and cosy cottage . Beautifully furnished and decorated. Lovely artwork. Very comfy bed. Our issue was central heating stat being locked and having absolutely no way to control time/temperature of heating. After a lengthy and difficult phone call to the owner they finally gave us the pin no. This is the first time we have encountereRead mored this in a holiday cottage and is unacceptable. Cleanliness of cottage needs some improvement. Apart from that we have had a wonderful holiday. Hide
