This idyllic stone cottage in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park is the perfect rural retreat for couples looking to explore the area’s natural beauty. Situated in the peaceful village of Buckden in Upper Wharfedale, there is an abundance of walking and cycling routes on your doorstep, including the hike to the top of Buckden Pike which is above the village. The Dales Way also passes through Buckden on its way from Ilkley in the south to Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District, as does the Lady Anne Clifford Way, so you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a picturesque walk amongst breathtaking surroundings. The Dales are also home to many quaint towns and villages with a range of shops to wander around and eateries to stop off at for tea and cake or a pint of Yorkshire ale. The National Park also borders Nidderdale and Forest of Bowland, both of which are Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. After a busy day exploring, head home for a quiet meal in the garden or sneak through the gate to the village pub to have a meal cooked for you. The village also has a shop for your convenience.
Cosy and romantic, this attractive cottage has been beautifully finished to ensure guests have a comfortable stay. Traditional décor throughout creates a country-cottage feel, but a few contemporary twists bring it into the 21st century. Exposed beams and warm woods add character, whilst light walls make it seem bright and airy.
Stepping inside, you’ll find yourself in the compact, but well-equipped, open-plan living space. Along one wall is a modern kitchen with all the mod-cons you’ll need to cook up some treats. There is a bistro style table and chairs which offers somewhere ideal to eat your meals. The living area also consists of two stylish winged armchairs for you to rest of an evening, read a book or plan your next adventure. Completing the ground floor is a lovely shower room and WC. Upstairs, there is a delightful double bedroom, which is light and airy with views of the garden and fields beyond.
Adjoined to the owners’ home, you have access to the garden, which has an array of mature plants and shrubs, and affords beautiful views down the valley. A table and chairs on the cottage’s patio offer the perfect spot for a morning coffee or some al fresco dining of an evening. There is private off street parking next to the cottage for guests.
