This pretty cottage is in a peaceful location in a favoured village on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Located on the main high street, you’re within 200 metres of old traditional pubs, local eateries and tearooms, yet can still enjoy the tranquillity of a countryside spot with lots of walks and trails available from the doorstep. With plenty of space for up to five guests, this property has lots of country-style charm and is the ideal getaway if you like horses, since you’ll often see racehorses going back to their stables.

Head up the front steps to the door and make your way into the inviting lounge, where calming neutral decor blended with rich browns make it the perfect spot for relaxing in after a long day out walking. Snuggle up in front of the wood burner set in a gorgeous stone fireplace and watch a good film on the Smart TV, delve into your favourite novel or listen to some peaceful music through the Bose speaker. Exposed beams and rustic furniture create a country-style atmosphere without sacrificing your creature comforts.

Culinary guests will be delighted with the kitchen where quaint tiles, wood-style worktops and light coloured cupboards give it a trendy farmhouse feel; there’s everything you need to cook up a storm as well as a coffee machine for your morning coffee so you can start the day properly. Enjoy sociable meals at the wooden dining table among antique-style furnishings; gaze out of the large window and watch the racehorses in the mornings as you eat your breakfast.

Upstairs, three beautiful bedrooms await you; all of the rooms have fresh, soothing tones with a minimalist style to promote a great night’s sleep. A charming ornamental fireplace in the king-size room reminds you of the property’s age while the large window ensures that there’s plenty of natural light for sitting at the dressing table in the morning as you get ready. The double room features ornate lighting with another lovely window looking outside, while the pretty single room has quaint artwork on the walls and plenty of storage for your clothes. Take an invigorating shower in the stylish bathroom in the morning to set you up for the day, or take an indulgent soak in the bath among calming tones to banish any aches and pains from long walks to Penhill Beacon (6 miles).

The country-cottage charm continues outside, where a small courtyard is the perfect spot for your morning coffee or al fresco meals; sizzle up the BBQ on those warm summer evenings or maybe nibble on something from the welcome pack. Pretty flowerbeds decorate the garden, while high walls and fences ensure you have complete privacy so you can enjoy your holiday in peace in your own little haven. You’ll find an outdoor utility room housing an ironing board, iron, vacuum cleaner and outdoor cushions along with the BBQ, so you’ve got everything you need for a comfortable stay. There’s also a log store out here, where the first basket of logs for the wood burner are included.

This is a lovely property, well equipped and very clean, centrally located and close to Leyburn. The pubs in the village are ok but nothing to write home about. Parking in the village is available but at times quite a distance from the cottage. It is lovely to see the race horses being taken out in the early morning for the gallops.
